Visual Merchandising Manager, Wholesale
1.MAIN FUNCTIONS / PURPOSE OF POSITION:
In this role you will be responsible for creating best in class VM principles that enhance our branded retail experience and can be easily implemented and maintained by wholesale channels, specifically for Mall Channel/Specialty retail. You will be the key contact within the RSM team for all VM topics at wholesale. You will be responsible for managing all branded space across wholesale and support our story telling initiatives by managing the relationships with our Trade and RSM teams. Additionally you will be asked to raise the standard in visual merchandising through timely delivery, providing coaching & direction to the external VM’s. Ensure consistency and excellence across all channels and concepts. Create VM training & compliance programs in the field ensuring market consistency. Manage all planning & pre-season VM elements which effect the overall visual proposition in market.
2. DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Working with the RSM & Trade teams, manage all wholesale visual merchandising requirements for the Mall Channel/Specialty business while prioritizing focus doors as agreed by the business and at the correct frequency rate
• Manage all planning and pre-season VM elements which effect the overall visual proposition in Market
• Oversee the layout planning process in relation to VM across all stakeholders
• Manage the trial, installation, training and use of mock shop within the range building process when the time is right for the business (sell-in)
• Ensure timelines are kept to by all stakeholders
• Develop and/or adapt visual merchandising principles and techniques for global RSM concepts across numerous disciplines including apparel, footwear and accessories
• Create and/ or update the VM manuals and directives as needed and ensure they are intuitive in order to drive flawless execution
• Develop floor-set directives for identified focus doors on a quarterly basis for internal and external VM teams
• Integrate VM into the GTM process and influence the range builds in line with VM guidelines
• Facilitate regular meetings with stakeholders where VM support is required
• Oversee VM yearly critical path, for new and existing branded spaces
• Consistently review and re-evaluate the VM process
• Work closely with Trade, Sales and the RSM teams to fully understand the channel requirements and plan accordingly
• Facilitate all field based training sessions & agree content required
• Review all global VM guidelines and identify the right solutions for Canada wholesale channels/accounts
• Manage the physical opening process of new doors across the country & the relevant teams & stakeholders on site as it pertains to VM
• Ensure alignment with key depts. across the physical store opening process, across campaign launch support & feedback ( trade marketing, branded space development, sales, peers)
• Regular & consistent communication across the VM team & business
• Focused door list and visit strategy to reflect the needs of the business on a priority basis.
• Manage all external VM needs; plan and execute against the RSM needs
• Ability to travel domestically and/or internationally; estimated at 30%
3. SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Proven understanding of wholesale needs with a focus on product presentation, merchandising, and enhancing sell-through
• Experince of managing VM across a high volume of stores across a large territory
• Experience of managing internal and external VM teams
• Experience of working with wholesale accounts whilst working for the over-arching brand
• Strong understanding of the sports related industry and consumer
• Ability to influence key decision makers
• Ability to work indepentantly and succeed in an ever-changing and complex organization
• Strong presentation and communication skills
• Skills in MS office applications ( Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
• Extensive VM & RSM planning software computer skills
• VM reporting system & process experience
• Strong inter-personal/inter-departmental relationships management
• Team and organizational development skills
4. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
College or University Marketing or Business Degree.
Minimum of 5 years progressive work experience in Retail, specifically Visual Merchandising and Space planning
3 – 5 years leadership experience in the retail environment
