Designer Apparel Accessories
Become the Newest Member of the Vans Family
As Van’s Designer of Accessories, your role is to incorporate our culture into our accessories. To fulfill this role, be prepared to use your imagination and devise products that allows our audience to express their individuality and authenticity, which are Vans’ core mentalities. If you do your research effectively, you will be able to discover exactly what our target audience relates to and be able to produce designs that are influenced by current trends. You will be responsible for all areas of design for Accessories from initial concepts through pre-production. The work you are able to accomplish in your role will impact Vans’ culture and the vision it has for the company’s future.
How You Will Make a Difference:
Showcase your state of the art design skills to design authentic, original, and innovative designs and exceed our consumers expectations. You will impact the consumer experience through new and original product that meets their expectations and push the boundaries of past lines. You will partner with technical design team to ensure accuracy for drawings, materials, seam construction and ideal fit. Research market conditions to identify key product trends to prepare concept for future innovative designs. Establish and maintains collaborative relationship with cross-functional partners in merchandise and development to ensure successful product creation. Identify problems and develop solutions or innovative approaches to the design and development of accessories. Impact the design process at Vans by communicating shared process and product knowledge with cross-functional partners throughout apparel categories.
Skills for Success:
Years of Related Professional Experience: 5+ years
Educational/ Position Requirements:
• 2+ years of Accessories Design Experience in the action sports industry.
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent from a four-year college or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Knowledge of accessories business including, but not limited to various techniques, finishing, embellishments and styles by category.
• Proficient in computer design programs (e.g. Illustrator, Photoshop, Streamline).
• Strong Microsoft Office experience.
• Successful work performance demonstrating an ability to communicate effectively.
Special Physical and/or Mental Requirements:
• Willing and able to work additional hours when needed.
• Lifting and/or moving product and related office items varying in weight from 1 to 25 lbs.
