Role Description
The Associate Graphic Designer will work closely with the Manager of Visual Operations, Senior Manager of Visual Operations and the Visual Merchandising Managers to execute visual direction from creative approval through release. The person will need to be skilled in all facets of creative production: they will photograph store sets, photoshop/re-touch photography, layout photography and accompanying product information, all the while making design choices consistent with the Gap brand aesthetic. They will be expected to collaborate with all relevant business partners including visual merchandising, windows/in-store marketing, studio, production, and account managers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Responsible for graphic production of monthly visual direction and any addendum, from creative hand-off through review process and ultimately final release
• Work closely with manager and visual merchandising managers to execute monthly visual direction,
special project visual directives, and other visual direction documents depending on necessity
• Participate in routing process, status meetings and production scheduling - maintain personal daily and weekly production/design schedule
• Adhere to naming and back-up procedures to ensure appropriate archiving and storage
• Actively participate in creative/production hand-offs & walk-throughs
• Continually manage and work to improve quality of deliverables
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in design or related field, or a minimum of 3 years’ experience in fast moving marketing department or comparable work environment
• Must be proficient in a Mac based creative environment
• Expert working knowledge of Adobe InDesign. Professional to Expert working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Lightroom for Mac
• Photography experience – camera handling, lighting, staging, asset management
• Articulate communication skills, especially conveying solutions for problem areas
• Project management and expert organizational skills – manage projects from initiation to exporting and release; manage numerous projects, tight turn-around times, scheduling conflicts, revisions, and technical challenges
• Constant drive to gain additional knowledge to improve skill set with a desire to explore, understand and use new software and production/presentation skills
• Ability to respond effectively and appropriately to creative feedback
• Work collaboratively and independently - successful candidate will be a team player with flexible disposition and an “all hands on deck” attitude
• Uncompromising attention to detail and highest degree of quality control
• Natural affinity for the Gap brand sensibility
• Knowledge of printing processes, studio pre-press, and print production experience is a plus
