Responsibilities:
we are looking for a director of visual merchanidising to oversee all aspects of visual merchandising for kate spade new york for europe and the middle east region. this role is based in the london corporate office in regent street and requires regular international travel to meet the needs of the business.
the director of visual merchandising is responsible for maintaining the brand image in the store environment and using their regional european experience and ability to develop by-market strategies that tell the brand story consistently and relevant to individual market needs and in support of the global business strategy.
Essential duties and responsibilities to include:
• provide management of all brand presentation across our channels in europe and the middle east. this is inclusive of, but not limited to: direct retail, wholesale, outlet, travel retail, partnered businesses, and licensed partners (250 + points of sale)
• serve as strategic business partner to cross functional teams in uk head office. uphold brand direction and vision from the new york corporate office while appropriately tailoring to localized needs.
• manage and grow a high performing team of visual experts tasked with ensuring an inspiring experience in stores. manage, mentor, evaluate, develop and collaborate with our internal teams as well as partnered vm resources.
• travel to new york quarterly to participate in market, helping to assess and guide presentation of assortments, validate capacity requirements, and plan seasonal strategies for all retail and wholesale businesses.
• responsible and accountable for the visual presentation of our flagship/premier locations of paris' rue saint honore and london's regent street.
• plan and execute seasonal setups and requirements for brand showrooms in london and florence.
• oversee the local production of creative elements and propping related to windows, pop up shops, etc.
• manage the flow of vm fixtures and collateral through the local ppn warehouse, partnering with the senior director for development of new elements and bulk orders as needed to support business.
• plan and execute annual travel and operating budgets, as well as headcount planning for long range planning and growth.
• work collaboratively with the wider vm team to influence the overall global aesthetic and commercial strategy..
• develop relationships with our retail partners from a visual perspective to promote services and address visual concerns, issues, etc
Qualifications:
• proven success in a comparable vm leadership role, responsible for multiple geographies
• strong creative skills and real passion for product.
• high taste level and aesthetic.
• strong communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills including influential leadership
• action oriented and independent with strong organizational skills
• effective at overcoming ambiguity with solid go-forward strategies
• flexibility to prioritize and effectively manage a broad variety of initiatives
• strong analytical skills and financial acumen
• cultural awareness and ability to accommodate different time zones
• willingness to travel regularly to meet the needs of the business
