Visual Production Program Overview
The Visual Production Internship program is designed to provide an overview of how to design and build, dress and light for the HSN live broadcast. Through the Internship program you will have the unique opportunity of being a part of a live, 24/7, studio environment and will gain insight to the Visual Production Department and gain better understanding of how each area of Scenic, Lighting and Set Styling plays a part in the overall vision of the programming.
A Day in the Life
• Achieve HSN’s internship program global objectives
◦ Understand the company’s mission and strategy and develop an understanding of how the global plan helps define business unit strategy and goals.
◦ Develop an understanding of divisional organizational structure and the cross-functional relationships that the business unit has with other parts of the business.
◦ Gain practical industry experience in a profession that aligns to desired career path.
• Overview of the Internship Opportunity
◦ Learn how sets are designed and built including the assembly and installation to include finishing and painting of scenery and props for the live broadcast.
◦ Learn how sets are propped and dressed including how to perform routine maintenance and repair of sets and props.
◦ Learn how to light shows by shadowing and learning to work with lighting and grip equipment including lighting maintenance.
◦ Learn how to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
◦ Shadow and learn to Rig, Power, and Focus Lighting on set designs with hands on participation.
◦ Participate in learning how in following safety guidelines for all departments.
◦ Participate in maintaining the integrity of all set designs by ensuring the set is consistent with the design and visually ready for each airing.
◦ Learn video engineering, camera, and control room basics.

Must Haves
• Working towards a degree in a related field.
• Juniors and seniors preferred
• In order to participate in our TV Internship program, you must be earning college credit
• Must be able to build and maintain good working relationships with a diverse group of individuals and personalities.
• Detail-oriented.
• Must be able to achieve projects individually and work with a team.
• Must be able to participate in a minimum of 3 days per week, with punctuality and regular attendance.
• 8 to 12 weeks at minimum, depending upon length of semester
• Climb ladders
• Lift, Pull, Push items over 50 lbs
• Must be comfortable with heights
• Packaging/un-packaging items
• Stand for extending periods of time
• Use of hands or fingers to handle/feel objects tools or controls
• Reach with arms
• Balance, Kneel, Crouch, or Crawl
• Close, Distant, Peripheral, Depth vision
• Ability to adjust and focus sight

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Some experience dealing with Customers or Guests
