We’re looking for a stellar copy proofer and production specialist to work in a range of copy-related roles — from straight proofing, to managing and implementing edits, to help with shepherding process. In this role, the Copy Proofer & Production Specialist will review, track and edit print and web copy to ensure it meets the highest standards of accuracy, style, and consistent product positioning.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Ensures copy is consistent, accurate, and adheres to Orvis style standards
• Copyedits for usage, grammar, punctuation
• Communicates all edits and comments effectively to colleagues
• Reviews circulation comments from cross-functional teams and works with writers and Production Designers to executes changes
• Maintains Orvis style guide
• Maintains list of all Orvis registered and service-marked trade names
• Builds thorough knowledge of all Orvis product lines, business-channel communication norms, and major legal and compliance guidelines
• Learns the demands of colleagues across different disciplines (merchandising, product development, inventory, traffic, creative) and proactively supports their needs
• Embeds as an effective and integral member of the Creative team & processes
Stretch Responsibilities:
• Reviews all copy to ensure it adheres to Orvis voice and brand positioning
• Helps train and educate cross-functional players on style guidelines
• Uncovers, advertises, and helps implement ongoing process or tool improvements to achieve max efficiency

Job Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree, preferably with concentration in English, journalism, communications, or equivalent work experience
• Excellent editing, proofreading, and organizational skills
• Proven ability to work well under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage a high volume of work with poise and a considerable degree of independence
• Excellent command of English grammar, punctuation, vocabulary — and the ability
to recognize when & why we bend the rules
• Stand-out communications skills, both written and verbal
• Writing-curious
