POSITION OVERVIEW:
Be an integral part in leading the DKNY/Donna Karan Global Marketing team to develop successful new innovation and long-term brand strategy for the largest fragrance business within the Estee lauder Companies. The Director filling this high visibility role will lead the brand management and strategy, as well as drive the innovation process - from concept to product development through to sell-in and go to market strategy. Position reports to Executive Director of Global Marketing and responsibilities include 2 direct reports.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
LEADERSHIP & COLLABORATION
Global brand management
• Develop strategic brand plans for Donna Karan and DKNY using core building blocks including new product innovation, promotional programs, distribution and pricing.
• Prepare new product briefs to lead innovation process and align cross-functional teams (Creative, Packaging, Merchandising, Fragrance and Product Development, Media & Digital) in the overall brand vision and strategy.
• Lead bi-weekly development meetings with cross-functional teams to drive program development and ensure timetables and cost objectives are met
• Responsible for managing all financial aspects of new development and on-going programs including cost of goods and suggested retail pricing strategy
• Identify new short-term and long-term opportunities through competitive analysis, industry studies and analyzing sales. Perform SKU and portfolio analysis and recommend program optimization as needed
• Acts as a key liaison with the fashion house licensor, Donna Karan International, to secure all product and creative approvals
• Maintains flow of communication with International and Domestic affiliates with regards to marketing calendars, revisions in programs and developing activations to support local market needs
• Develops promotional and launch bulletins for global marketing website as the primary communication vehicle for all international markets. Maintains ongoing business information on marketing website.
STRATEGIC THINKING & EXECUTIONAL EXCELLENCE
Commercial Activation
• Lead development of go-to-market strategy creating a 360-degree activation including in-store point of sale through to digital/social media
• Prepares and presents all programs to worldwide affiliates at annual meetings as well as retail partners as needed.
• Partner with merchandising team to develop best in class point of sale material and related in-store events
• Mentor and manage two direct reports to maximize their contribution to the team and help further develop their skill sets
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience in Global Marketing position (8 + years with BS degree) in Beauty and/or Fragrance Marketing
• Excellent project management and time management skills
• Must be a self-starter, accountable and highly organized with the ability to handle multiple projects at one time
• Solid financial and analytic skills
• Strong team player with excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
• Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
