DEPARTMENT SUMMARY:
Under Armour’s Global Licensing department oversees a diverse set of deals, relationships, and products- everything from product licensing to collaborations and licensor third party partnerships. The Licensing team is the hub for all product licensing strategies structured to work with multiple Product, Category & Brand Teams to ensure brand right collections are brought to market.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under Armour licensing is looking for a dynamic Sr. Designer to drive our product design strategy and execution as we continue to grow the team. Under Armour is looking for an ambitious, experienced creative leader to drive our partners to create the best product on the planet. Under Armour’s licensees are an extension of our brand and we need a visionary to merge 3rd party creatives with our all facets of our brand. The Sr. Designer will be responsible for successfully integrating multiple licensees into UA’s product creation process, providing a single design voice, and championing licensees within UA’s design network. This individual must have strong interpersonal and communication skills as well as a desire work in a fast paced environment, learning and adapting as needs of the business change. This role will oversee teammates as applicable.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES may include the following. Other duties may also be assigned.
• Serve as key design and creative leader for all 3rd party partners/licensees, driving them to produce elite, premium product that aligns with Under Armour’s market positioning
• Translate, cascade, and author seasonal design directives for 3rd party partners/licensees while always keeping innovation as the central focal point
• Partner with Design, Product Creation, Creative Services, Packaging and Brand to filter Under Armour’s key stories to partners
• Oversee all licensees’ colors, prints, designs and category collections effectively managing formalized approvals
• Identify and integrate partners at key milestones ensuring licensees are represented as part of, and within, the company’s portfolio of products
• Deliver creative point of view for commercializing product at retail – see the design from end to end by serving as a liaison with licensees to translate the product vision for merchandising and retail.
• Elevate visibility of licensees both internally and externally, fiercely championing product designs in order to gain and maintain a seat at UA’s design table
• Network and build consensus with UA’s design and product executives to ensure category strategy alignment
• Deliver great product through successful, on trend collections
• Stay current with creative direction and emerging trends within multiple product categories, both soft and hard goods, and sporting goods and fashion industries
• Maintain knowledge of fabric trends and compositions –interacting with the materials and trims teams.
• Be willing to roll up your sleeves when needed (i.e. provide relevant tactical creative direction, such as file transfers) in order to work with growing, entrepreneurial teams and partners in a fast paced environment
• Well rounded experience and/or previous exposure with soft goods, hard goods and footwear with the ability to translate vision with between product concepts, apparel, and industrial designers
• Ability to concept, sketch, and build presentations through the artistic, aesthetic lens of the brand.
• Experience in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree and at least 5-7 years of related experience. Global experience is a plus.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to communicate in English is required, ability to communicate in a language other than English is a plus. Ability to present the product vision to all levels of the organization. Ability to communicate effectively and present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
