Job Description
The Sr. Assistant Planner is responsible for achieving sales and profit objectives for multiple merchandise categories by providing support to the Planner and working in conjunction with multiple buying teams. This responsibility includes conducting relevant business analysis, open to buy monitoring, stock balancing, by store allocation, building assortment plans, financial plan development, and vendor matrix development. This candidate will possess strong computer skills, and be able to work independently on both ongoing and ad-hoc projects related to reporting and analysis. They will be expected to identify and raise issues to the planner and director of planning as they arise. The ability to work with minimal direction, detect and interpret trends, and draw inferences on how to grow a healthy business will be key factors in their long term success and progression to greater responsibility and financial accountability. This position is intended to have the potential to grow to associate and planner level responsibilities.
Open-to-Buy Monitoring - Coordinates the roll up and conducts a critical review of open to buy forecasts. Actively participates in all open-to-buy meetings and makes pertinent suggestions based on knowledge acquired through analysis. Continually works with the Planner and merchant team to update and re-project OTB elements based on the most current business trends so that appropriate action can be taken to ensure optimal sales and profitability. This includes ensuring receipts are optimal at topside and store levels and makes appropriate recommendations.
Financial Planning - Analyzes store financial performance and develops action plans to optimize sales and inventory productivity. Manages the development of seasonal store plans and assists Planner in the development and revision of topside plans. Participates in all Planning meetings and offers pertinent information.
Allocation and Assortment Planning - Analyze and monitor stock level by store and allocate / re-allocate each delivery to ensure optimal receipts flow. Participate actively and fully in Assortment Planning process before, at and after market.
Special Projects - Efficiently provides information for relevant special projects and ad hoc reporting needed at the vendor, group, and/or family of business levels. This is includes weekly reports that are provided to the vendors, merchant team and upper management. Offers suggestions on enhancing current or developing new decision support tools to accommodate the evolving needs of the business. Works with other assistant planners to streamline reporting and processes involving information exchange.
Qualifications
Bachelors Degree
2 - 3 years in retail as an Assistant Buyer or Assistant Planner
Retail math, EXCEL, Access
Understanding of merchandising processes
