Purpose and Scope: To drive the design and development of the Women’s for Polo performance, tennis and Pink Pony lines, incorporating functional athletic apparel with consideration to: quality, innovation, technical performance and the Ralph Lauren aesthetic sensibility.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage and Design Knits for Performance/ Tennis/ Pink Pony brands:
◦ Research trends in sport, performance, athleisure and street style
◦ Create design boards with inspirational sketches, tears, and fabric
◦ Present concepts and ideas to Vice President
◦ Sketch design details and pass-off/review with tech once styles are adopted
• Create and Manage Stats and Pagination Boards:
◦ Create each season with fabric info, illustrations, and sketches
◦ Work with the Illustration team to add and make necessary updates
◦ Create Stat boards for Board Review- that have stat sheets, fabrics, and trims
◦ Share drive Stats- are updated bi weekly with updated sketches, drops, and adds or as needed
• Manage all trims, Logos, Prints and lab dip approvals
◦ Record comments into PLM and send out comments to factories or parties
◦ Follow up and track trims and Logos for approvals
• Develop and Manage Trim and Logo Ideas
◦ Work with Graphics and Trim Team for newness
◦ Resize and create layouts to be sent to factories and saved into the PLM system
◦ Create ID #’s and Import all logo info into the PLM system
• Direct all fittings
◦ Attend all fittings and give clear direction to tech team
◦ Review all specs, construction, trim and logo placements
• Manage and Build tech packs
◦ Create board #’s with associate merchandiser
◦ Create shells for new styles for each season
◦ Input all Trims and Logo info for BOM
◦ Add all sketches, design details, and Logos into PLM system
◦ Set-up and manage Proof meetings and make sure all info in the system is accurate
◦ Review all tech packs before we send out Stock Approvals
◦ Team with PD and Fabric to ensure all product info is accurate in our system
◦ Team with Sourcing on pricing and allocation
◦ Attend all WIP meetings and come prepared with all necessary line sheet, stats, logo and trim that will need to be discussed
• Manage Assistant Designer:
◦ Hold weekly meetings, provide deadlines on projects
◦ Teach all processes and procedures with-in the company
Requirements:
• Proficient at sketching detailed garment flats in Adobe Illustrator and proficient at CAD to color illustrated designs
• Proficient at Photoshop & Excel
• Strong planning and organizational skills with a sense of priority for deadlines and attention to detail
• Proven verbal & communication skills
• Experience using PLM system a plus
• 4 year college degree in Fashion Design
• 5+ years of experience with knowledge of activewear
