Visual Coordination Program Overview
The Visual Coordination Internship program is designed to provide an overview of the Visual Coordination role, and its function within the HSN live broadcast. Through this Internship, you'll gain experience by working with Visual Coordinators as they prep product and work with that product during the live broadcast. The Visual Coordination Internship provides you with a unique opportunity to be part of a live, 24/7, studio environment. It also provides you with insight on how product is styled for retail television, and exposure to how Visual Coordinators play a part in on-air Talent support.
A Day in the Life
• Achieve HSN’s internship program global objectives
◦ Understand the company’s mission and strategy and develop an understanding of how the global plan helps define business unit strategy and goals.
◦ Develop an understanding of divisional organizational structure and the cross-functional relationships that the business unit has with other parts of the business.
◦ Gain practical industry experience in a profession that aligns to desired career path.
• Overview of the Internship Opportunity
◦ Develop an understanding of the Visual Coordination function, and how it relates to retail television
◦ Learn how to prep product for retail television
◦ Learn how traffic product in a live, 24/7 studio environment
◦ Learn how to communicate (via headset) with a TV Production Crew during a live broadcast
◦ Develop an understanding of how to support Talent during a live broadcast
◦ Develop an understanding of the various roles/positions associated with a live broadcast
◦ Shadow Visual Coordinators and Visual Specialists
◦ Participate with guidance from the Visual Coordinators and Visual Specialists in learning the day-to-day responsibilities including: unpacking, steaming, sorting, and verifying quantities and quality, creating displays, table trafficking and other aspects of broadcast product display.
◦ Assist in learning offline Projects that could include: product prep, prop and supply maintenance, product return, or other Departmental needs.
Keys to Success
Must Haves
◦ Working towards a Bachelors Degree in a related field
◦ Classes in Television Production or Design, or related subjects. Some retail experience is helpful, but not required
◦ Ability to obtain course credit thru the college or university
◦ Some experience dealing with Customers or Guests
◦ Must be able to participate in a minimum of 3 days per week, with punctuality and regular attendance.
◦ 8 to 12 weeks at minimum, depending upon length of semester
◦ Juniors and seniors preferred

◦ Strong verbal and written communication skills
◦ Creative and analytical skills
