The TV Research Specialist is an integral part of the TV and Merchandise team. This department is passionate and knowledgeable about the products within the categories they support. This role strategically supports the HSN Show hosts by providing focused product and brand information and training. This role will support the following categories: Fashion & Accessories, Crafts & Sewing, and Movie Partnerships/Whole House Events like overall company events (Birthday, Holiday etc…)
Day in the Life
• Review, consolidate and integrate information from Partners, Merchants, Programming, Planning, Legal, Off-Air Sales, Marketing, Quality Assurance (QA), Product Information (PI) and Events teams.
• Provide streamlined communication to the Show hosts that maximizes key information and sales opportunities.
• Ensure quality, consistency and timeliness of Today’s Special, brand, and guest documents and support for assigned categories.
• Research and produce learning materials for assigned product categories.
• Support Show hosts for the on air, live presentation for select high priority launches or events.
• Determine and execute appropriate product/brand training options for groups and individuals in TV/Content, as well as on-air guests, for certain events including but not limited to: one on one learning sessions, style outs, written information, workshops and overall presentations to large groups.
• Create materials for training presentations including; PowerPoint decks as well as submitting UMO assets.
• Build and maintain relationships with Show hosts, Merchandising teams, QA, Marketing and Legal, and be a credible source of information for presentations.
• Management of all company priorities and initiatives over the life of the event including: Fall Fashion, Birthday Month, Sales initiatives, HSN Cares, Holiday.
• Keep current with product category trends by monitoring trade publications, websites, and the marketplace.
• Participate in various meetings with Merchandising, Marketing and TV/Content where the product, brand, guest, trend and inspiration details are shared and developed.
• Attend Today’s Special meetings and gather feedback from product launches to update information provided to Show hosts and/or make as needed adjustments throughout each day.
• Occasionally, may be asked to participate in key industry events/tradeshows.

Must Haves
• Bachelor’s Degree, certification in a related field, or 3 - 5 years of professional experience in a related field.
• Must thoroughly knowledgeable about assigned category or categories.
• High level of organization and attention to detail.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast paced, changing environment.
• Strong project management and time management skills.
• Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
• Able to demonstrate self confidence as a category expert.
• Must be able to interact professionally with talent and executives on all levels.
• Intermediate level experience in using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Lift, Pull, Push items over 10lbs
• Packing/Unpacking items - Delivering items, walking to/from various buildings on campus
• Schedule: typical business hours with occasional after hours support
Nice to Haves
• 1-2 years of television experience
• Retail product knowledge or electronic retail experience
• Experience in using UMO – asset management program, Broadcast Web Notes, Retek and Show Planning Tool (preferred)
