Fashion Director - CAA-GBG
Specific Responsibilities
DESCRIPTION
CAA-GBG Brand Studio is seeking a Fashion Director to join their Los Angeles team full-time. The Fashion Director provides fashion and merchandising direction for Licensees and Brand Teams, to substantiate and support global growth strategies by creatively guiding the concept and execution with product planning, calendar, style direction, and product development management.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Working with Brand Team to articulate overall seasonal apparel direction through key trend and product direction boards, to include: seasonal color palettes, fabric and silhouette direction, trims and design details exclusive and in alignment with the DNA of each brand.
• Work with the Licensees on multiple brand accounts from concept to development and through production to ensure the execution of well balanced, thoughtfully segmented, commercially viable seasonal product assortments that maintain the brand ethos and meet the needs of the licensees’ market and customer base.
• Create singular Trend Reports to inform product development under a master brand strategy.
• Liaison with Brand Manager(s) for processing all concepts and pre-production sample approvals and based on 3-5 day turnaround obligations. Be responsible to provide independent approval/disapproval in order to maintain Licensor contractual compliance to Licensees.
• Work with Brand Manager(s) to review and implement full product development calendars with Licensees. This includes setting key development product meetings, resolving production issues, and assuring quality is consistent with brand standards and DNA.
• Review of all Licensee production samples to assure Licensee compliance of approved standards.
• Bi-Annual Trips in support of Strategic/Product Development to China/ Europe – subject to approval of brands.
• Analyze product sell through performance on a regular basis. Identify and recommend assortment improvements and provide relevant feedback to support the Licensees’ development.
• Work with Brand Manager(s), Brand Team, and Licensees to develop and maintain strong internal and external relationships by applying a team based, collaborative approach to the product development process.
Skills and Requirements
• Superior organizational skills and excellent communication skills; team oriented
• Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines; highly detail oriented, current and extensive knowledge of lifestyle/apparel brands in market
• Creativity, technical capability and sensibility for merchandising; strong ability to sketch
• Extensive knowledge of garment construction, silhouettes, color ways, sewing techniques, fabrication and trim; familiarity with print design, application techniques and manufacturing
• Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design
• 8-10 years experience in apparel / accessory design; significant relevant experience in category.
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe InDesign, CAD and Mac computers
