THE OPPORTUNITY
Sephora is looking for a Director of Digital Strategy to help shape the future for its ground-breaking, innovative digital shopping experiences. In this role, you will identify, develop and drive long-term strategies that drive the growth and expansion of Sephora.com and digital initiatives in-store. You will serve as a go-to thought partner to the Digital leadership team, crystallizing and effectively communicating the vision for Sephora Digital. You will help incubate new digital initiatives, pushing the organization forward into the next phase of its development. This role is differentiated within the Digital team in that it spans the full breadth of the business, providing a unique vantage point to understand and impact its future.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Oversee the vision and strategy of Sephora Digital. Lead overall strategic planning and Budget processes for the Digital team. Serve as key thought partner to leadership team on priorities. Push organization’s thinking and drive storytelling. Facilitate offsites, brainstorms and cross-functional meetings to generate ideas, structure thinking and gain alignment
• Incubate new digital business initiatives. Identify untapped opportunities in digital based on client, industry and technology trends. Structure problems, identify key issues and synthesize findings. Build business cases and strategic plans against opportunities. Work with cross-functional partners to prioritize initiatives and get them off the ground
• Effectively communicate digital strategy and priorities. Craft high-profile presentations, partnering with leadership on content development and story-telling. These include internal presentations to executives, field leadership etc. as well as external presentations to brand leaders and industry peers. Guide Associate Manager of Digital Strategy, Communications teams and 3rd party agencies to successfully execute these presentations.
• Keep up with trends, competition and innovation. Continually benchmark Sephora against industry and our core competitors and their activities. Connect competitor activity to potential impacts on Sephora digital business. Manage Sephora’s relationships with research agencies and organize share-outs. Investigate new opportunities, keep abreast of trends, attend conferences to ensure we are constantly pushing the envelope and staying ahead.
• Manage and mentor Associate Manager, Digital Strategy.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Strong strategy background, with 5-7 years of experience in a strategy or innovation role at a major consulting firm, investment bank or large retailer (or some combination of these experiences)
• 1-2 years experience working in the digital shopping space and understanding of the landscape, key drivers and eCommerce fundamentals
• Strong leadership, strategic thinking and practical organizational planning skills
• Demonstrated track record of success in shaping and influencing an organization’s strategic agenda and priorities
• Innate, gut understanding of the Sephora client and an ability to identify and articulate opportunities.
• Nimble and flexible with regards to changing priorities and business needs. Proven multi-tasking skills, ability to meet critical deadlines.
• B.A. or B.S.; MBA strongly preferred
