About Sephora Inside JCPenney Business:
Sephora began opening stores inside JCPenney in October 2006. Utilizing a smaller footprint than a standard Sephora store, each one is located in the center of the JCPenney store and features the signature Sephora look and beauty assortment. As the exclusive beauty offering in JCPenney, Sephora inside JCPenney features products from more than 200 beauty brands. Also featured is Sephora’s own collection of makeup, skincare, tools and accessories. Inside JCPenney stores is the Beauty Studio, Sephora’s exclusive destination for free one-on-one beauty sessions with our experts.
Position Summary:
We are looking for a leader to drive the vision and strategy for Sephora Inside JCPenney’s merchandising function in support of the business’ continued growth and success. This person needs to be a strategic thinker with the ability to embrace change and foster new opportunities to grow the business. As a visionary leader s/he will inspire and mentor a high performing team to drive impactful product strategies and set the course for growth with our existing and future brands.
The VP, Merchandising for Sephora Inside JCP will be responsible for vendor collaboration, new product/brand identification, product assortment/forecasting, driving the sales growth strategy, P&L management, marketing strategy and team leadership.
Specific responsibilities include:
• Manage and mentor a team of seasoned merchants – play a key role in creating future leaders of the organization
• Interpret and communicate management direction to team members
• Develop and execute overall strategy for SIJCP’s growth with new product introductions and strategic expansion of current brands
• Determine new brands and assortments to support product differentiation within SIJCP
• Foster a work environment that embodies the Sephora Values
• Set profit and retail sales objectives to meet plans by season and by year
• Analyze sales, feedback and historical data to inform product decisions
• Communicate financial goals to merchants and planners and partner with them in devising season and yearly strategies to attain goals
Requirements:
• Inspirational leader who is focused and has the ability to align and inspire the team around a common vision; experience developing and playing the role of mentor for a team
• A strategic leader with the ability to conceive and create innovative thinking and ideas
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills
• Track record of managing/leading and participating on cross-functional teams across various departments
• Proven ability to develop category/brand strategies
• Ability to quickly establish rapport, credibility, trust and respect with peers, subordinates, senior executives and wholesale partners
• Experience in beauty industry or keen passion for cosmetics a plus
• Ability to travel
• College degree, MBA a plus
