Description
Logistically Speaking, You’re Killing It
Converse is hiring a Director of North America Operations to drive and develop vision, set strategic direction, and lead/influence the company regarding Converse’s Regional Operations, Logistics and Inbound Supply Chain, Export Compliance and Customs Compliance policies.
In this role, you will provide strategic direction and management of core operational processes to meet key business objectives and new initiatives. Monitor development of processes and procedures as required to support systems driven automation. You will insure fiscal responsibility and operational excellence through the building and training of high performing teams. Instill a culture that supports cross-functional bench strength and knowledge to insure meeting internal and external customer objectives.
Supply Chain Integration
• Drive the Converse NA Operations functions from an Inbound Transportation, Customs Compliance and Delivery Logistics perspective to support an integrated supply chain management process that supports monthly, quarterly and fiscal year objectives.
• Ability to develop strategies that are relevant to Converse utilizing established logistics services (i.e. consolidation, cross-dock etc.) and innovative solutions, that reduce costs, improve speed and/or provide information access
• Set and execute North American product and process flow logistics policy, lead consensus amongst NA product and process flow management teams around the policy and modify as required.
• Deeply understand the dynamics of the entire Supply chain view and possess the ability to translate process into systems applications and implement those across supply chain functions.
• Drive and develop a more a more strategic view of our inventory in the pipeline utilizing Logistics methods (consolidation, deconsolidation, flow planning, container load planning, delay in transit, etc.) and other tools that allow supply and demand to be better matched throughout the pipeline resulting in better service and lower costs.
• Coordinate with Demand Planning and Product Sourcing Acquisition Teams to manage and meet shipment and delivery expectations, as well as support operational refinement and improvement processes.
Strategic Projects / Planning
• Lead and support all strategic initiatives as communicated by Converse Executive Management’s business plan to manage U.S. and Canada Logistics’ and Supply Chain Operations’ monthly, quarterly and fiscal year objectives.
• Promote and drive process oriented thinking and possess the ability to visualize, translate and articulate at an executive and detailed level to generate buy-in and support.
• Ability to manage Operations’ related strategic projects, drive strategies to execution and align cross functionally to build consensus around all aspects of the strategy to assure operational success.
• Develop and monitor action plans that ensure timely execution of deliverables across functions.
Team Management & Leadership
• Direct the local Inbound Logistics and Customs Compliance teams in collaboration with regional Operations partners to operate in a cohesive, streamlined operational method, to assure an uninterrupted supply chain and delivery result.
• Build an organization to support continued corporate growth objectives, while maintaining operational excellence and compliance with internal policies and procedures, as well as external regulatory and compliance guidelines.
• Mentor and coach team members to create a winning, highly motivated Inbound Logistics and Customs Compliance team by providing broad team goals and monitor team effectiveness.
• Drive team depth, strength, and succession planning via selection, motivation, evaluation and organizational development. Specific activities include hiring, termination, coaching, performance reviews, salary administration, development and HRP interfaces.
Customs Compliance/Trade Results
• Partner and set NA Region Trade/Customs operations and compliance policies and administration amongst NA Operations and Product Groups according to both government regulations and company policy.
• Provide direction in driving operational best practices to minimize the risk of monetary penalties, seizures, and/or delivery delays to Converse customers, as well as meeting DOHS & USCBP guidelines in support of Regulatory and Port Security initiatives (C-TPAT, ACE, ISF, etc.).
• Develop organizational strength to ensure that Corporate Business objectives are not at risk in clearing product thru customs
• Utilize and communicate trade information updates and rulings to senior management to assure operational alignment with strategic initiatives.
Qualifications
Education & Industry Exposure:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business or related Field required.
• Minimum of 10+ years’ work experience in a supply chain related environment (footwear preferred), including in a regional or global capacity such as Transportation or Inbound Logistics etc.
• In depth knowledge of Customs, Compliance and Regulatory policies, procedures and guidance required.
• An additional 2 years relevant work experience in lieu of degree.
• Coordinate multiple and conflicting demands. Ability to meet deadlines. Organized and detail-oriented. Ability to work with ambiguity and try new solutions to existing or new problems.
• Advanced leadership, and people management skills. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Must be able to interact effectively across functions and cultures.
• Ability to critically analyze information & systems, creative problem solving skills & strategically plan complex organizational & functional interactions. Ability to manage multiple and changing processes and priorities.
• Must be very organized & able to track and prioritize multiple issues on an on-going basis. Must have the ability to understand, design, & coordinate the implementation of new processes and systems
