MISSION
Develop and implement the Company’s global sourcing strategy. Establish targets and costing to ensure maximization of margin while fostering a design environment and ensuring alignment with the go to market strategy. Manage and lead sourcing & production teams across all product categories. Strategy should include a multi-year approach to pricing and alignment with design.
KEY RESULTS AREAS
• Develops, maintains and communicates cross functionally the strategic sourcing plans that are linked to annual budgets and monthly forecasts
• Manages the relationship with domestic/SA vendors and mills, leading the negotiation and final price confirmation, garment details, factory allocation, and delivery.
• Maintains a domestic vendor base that is in line with the company’s supply chain strategy and guidelines; manages vendor relationships and monitors supplier performance using company policies and established evaluation criteria
• Collaborates with TBGS on the vendor base in Asia that is in line with the company’s/brands supply chain strategy and guidelines; partners on vendor relationships and on the monitoring of supplier performance.
• Manages all pre-costing activities to deliver targeted product costs and delivery requirements.
• Creates processes & metrics to identify & measure top 15-30 styles that drive margin.
• Develops and executes the development and communication of seasonal time and action calendars from concept to the DC and ensures teams are in compliance to required dates.
• Works with partners in production & TBGS to adhere to required deadlines for all vendor/product forecasts or projections securing supplier and mill capacities to deliver margin and delivery targets.
• Builds long term vendor partnerships while cultivating the brand's relationship worldwide.
• Develops and implements quick response and flexible capabilities to satisfy seasonal and divisional needs
• Oversees vendor compliance (partner with TBGS for Asia) to standards and ensures the sourcing strategy is implemented in an ethical manner.
• Conducts key research of competitors for countries of origin, pricing, timing, flow, fabrics, and styles in an effort to continually improve efficiency of supply chain operations
• Manages the supply chain processes including bulk allocation, production planning and purchase order placement
• Develops fabric and production capacity reservations ensuring the consumption or resolution of outstanding liabilities to minimize financial exposure.
• Ensures quick resolution of product related issues with appropriate Merchant, Technical Design and / or Designer/Product Development.
• Reviews initial costing results and recommends alternatives
• Reviews business by category and divisions and makes recommendations to drive results seasonally, annually and long term
• Partners with DTG/WS team during milestone meetings evaluating and reviewing price points & target margins throughout the process.
• Partners with DTG/WS team to edit the assortment to maximize selling and production expenses. Ensures that order sizes are vetted with inventory #’s and profitability always in mind.
• Establishes seasonal base cloths and end dates in order to commit with suppliers for securing yarns/yardage & vendor capacity and to leverage base cloths and volume across divisions.
• Minimizes over-development by co-creating, with design management, development budgets by category
• Utilizes projections for large volume and repeat styles across seasons and divisions.
• Partners with DTG teams on the promotional cadence and product pricing and needed margin
• Strategizes on outlet and off-price strategy by leveraging volume for margin
• Seasonally validates and informs hindsight analysis based on past sales and MOQ’s
• Recommends and leads the opportunities to improve the efficiency and/or effectiveness of the sourcing organization and process.
• Develops high performance work teams committed to a shared value system of integrity and collaboration
EXPERIENCE, TALENT AND EDUCATION
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in planning/merchandising and or business.
• 10+ years of experience in apparel sourcing and in directing large global teams.
• Experience negotiating with Chinese, SE Asian and Peruvian factories.
• Outstanding analytical and financial skills.
• Strong computer skills to include Microsoft Excel, FlexPLM, etc.
• Strong leadership ability to build effective global teams.
• Ability to interact with all levels of the company.
• Process management skills.
• Effective and proven negotiation skills.
