Senior Brand Marketing Manager, Action Sports Vans EMEA
SUMMARY:
This role is central to the brand marketing function to help achieve global, regional brand and business goals. You serve as a fundamental link between global and local country markets to drive brand marketing. Specifically, for this role you will manage the brand marketing strategies serving the action sports segment of the business with a particular focus on skateboarding. This will include building annual and seasonal marketing plans, as well as briefing guiding key functions and countries to execute the plan.
The Vans brand is built on its authentic connection to skateboarding and as such this role requires deep appreciation and understanding of the sport. This is to enable a balanced approach to the marketing that can connect with a core skater of 20 years and the 13-year-old just getting into the sport maybe inspired by the Olympics?
As the expert and leader of this important category, the role requires confidence to make choices and guide senior management team within Vans EMEA on the right path.
All plans and strategies need to be built, implemented and evaluated in close collaboration with the Brand Marketing Director.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
GENERAL
• Responsible for the 12-month and beyond view on Vans actions sports marketing initiatives
• Build EMEA relevant marketing strategies for each initiative, working closely with peers in sales, product and marketing.
• Communicate plans in a timely manner and regularly to relevant EMEA team members along with country marketing managers and guiding them as required for execution
• As required drive EMEA execution of action sports marketing activities.
• Present future plans with strategy at sales meetings and other meetings as required.
• Analyse results and provide fully comprehensive reports in a timely manner.
• Act as a guardian of the brand and champion of the target consumer.
• Use market feedback to further inform and improve effectiveness of Vans strategies, plans and tools.
• Develop and implement revised and enhanced processes across all brand functions driving multi-channel approach and target ROI on all brand spend within remit.
• Act as a key senior member of the Brand Marketing team and source for information and support.
• Regularly take time to stay informed and up to date with latest marketing and innovation developments in the world that can help Vans into the future.
• Be ahead of any skateboarding trends, news and opportunities.
BUDGET
• Work closely with Brand Marketing Director to maximise marketing budget to grow brand presence and sales in EMEA.
• Develop annual budget proposals and expenditure allocation considering priorities of the plan.
• Regularly analyse and review allocation of marketing budget to ensure results are achieved efficiently.
• Monitor and report budget on a monthly basis, and be positioned to readily identify spent, committed and planned status at all times.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Marketing or Business Degree; Bachelor / Master level
• At least 8 years experience in marketing and business function that requires strategic planning and execution.
• A passion and deep understanding of skateboarding and its culture, as well as an appreciation of other action sports, music, art and fashion.
• Language skills: Fluent in English (both written and spoken). Notions of German, French, Spanish and Italian would be a plus.
• Willingness to travel frequently.
