Overview
The Jr. Motion Graphic Designer is responsible for the preparation, creation, execution and integration of motion graphics across the Urban Outfitters brand. Working in collaboration with the editors, producers, designers and art directors to design enticing new forms of animation that communicate the Urban brand voice, and help evoke an emotional response. Innovation and progression are integral parts of the UO design aesthetic, and a key focus in this position. The Motion Designer will work on a diverse array of media including video, mobile/web, content, marketing, advertising, presentations, among others.
Responsibilities
• Execute a project from brief to production and delivery at the highest possible standards.
• Concept new ways of interaction with graphics, illustration & art in video, collaborating with directors.
• Work with editors, producers and other designers to resolve technical and/or design issues.
• Research & analyze animation practices that can be applied to the UO identity, synthesize & share with team.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge about latest graphic design techniques.
• Participate in brainstorming session to share new design perspectives and ideas.
• Efficiently self-manage work flow.
• Can utilize strong communication skills and work within a large team dynamic.
• Ensure compliance with company guidelines, deadlines and design standards.
• Self-initiated drive to move the brand's animation voice forward.
• Assist in designing and creating storyboards.
• Create and deliver motion graphics in various media including web, mobile, etc.
• Work with team leads to understand project scope and objectives, and help provide design solutions.
• Assist in selecting audio, video, colors, animation, etc for design when applicable.
• Edit raw video footage and add effects/elements to enhance motion graphics.
• Partner with Video Director to create, maintain and update video title program, for UOTV.
• Work to make motion graphics a part of the overall program.
• Maintain & follow best practices for version control, naming convention, and organization of graphic files.
Qualifications
• 1-2 years Graphic Design experience
• Strong organizational skills, file management and methodical workflow
• Ability to interpret a brief and communicate internally
• Experience in working to very tight deadlines
• Ability to work on multiple projects at one time
• Excellent eye for detail, and a problem-solving attitude
• Highly skilled in After Effects
• Experienced user of Cinema 4D
• Understanding of Illustrator and Photoshop
• Good understanding of the various requirements of post-production
• Design-trained to understand typography, movement and layout
• Good graphic grounding and understanding.
• Experience designing animated graphic formats (gif, svg, etc)
• Experience with Animate or HTML5 animations a plus
Education
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Graphic Design.
