Director, North America Communications, La Mer
Description
OBJECTIVE:
Drive communication efforts for La Mer, a global leader in prestige skincare, for the United States and Canada. Play a key role in developing and executing highly creative, strategic opportunities to support La Mer’s key business and brand objectives and help drive measureable sales results. Deliver new ways of thinking and executing, to increase La Mer’s share of voice in social media. Work closely with the NA marketing and global communications teams to develop effective earned media strategies, implement proactive outreach and secure standout stories. Demonstrate a strong passion for luxury, deep understanding of media and established relationships.
Core Responsibilities:
•Develop innovative brand strategies across communication mediums that support business objectives with measurable KPIs – awareness, advocacy and/or sales results
•Develop and drive proactive, result focused media outreach to define and amplify La Mer’s messages and support La Mer’s key innovation stories, brand campaigns and commercial priorities
•Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with high-level members of the beauty, health, fashion, men’s and lifestyle industries and other key influencers (like-minded brands, digital talent agencies, makeup artists, hair stylists, celebrities, socialites, etc).
•Track and measure ROI for continued success, including leading social listening partners such as Synthesio and Tribe Dynamics
•Present ideas to senior management on long-term plan development
DIRECT RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Strategize and oversee all North America communications for brand and new product launches
•Implement and innovate influencer marketing strategy in close collaboration with Executive Director, International Communications
•Collaborate with the Global Communications team to identify partnership opportunities that support business objectives across influencer hierarchy including digital influencers, makeup artists, tastemakers and like-minded brands that align with the La Mer brand standards
•Work closely with Global Communications team on brand and product launches to ensure global strategy is effectively adopted for NA landscape
•Manage with excellence the North American Communications team that includes a Manager, Coordinator and intern(s) for the US and a Manager for Canada
•Develop press and social media components for all national launches and in-store events such as Personal Appearances with our Brand Ambassadors
•Collaborate with Global Social Media, NA Marketing and NA Digital Marketing to build and execute social media strategies to leverage US-based digital influencers
•Oversee NA budget – including brand launches, events, retainers, out of pocket expenses, deliveries, social media partnerships: buying, development, etc.
•Create and manage outside PR agencies goals and short-lead projects
Qualifications
8-10 years experience in Communications, ideally in luxury and/or beauty.
Bachelor’s degree preferably in Communications, English or Journalism. Strong writing skills, excellent presentation and communication skills.
Must be collaborative, detail-oriented, innovative able to prioritize multiple projects based on ROI. Possess an advanced understanding of industry trends, competition and innovation
