PURPOSE OF ROLE: As a Print Designer at Dorothy Perkins you will be working with our Design and Buying teams to ensure we are capturing the emerging trends, and translating these into beautiful and desirable print our customers will love.
Tasks & Responsibilities
Supporting the Trend Design Manager and Established Print Designer in delivering the print design strategy for Dorothy Perkins
To interface with Design and Buying teams to deliver inspirational print ranges in line with Design trends and the Buying strategy
To create timely and appropriate colour palettes in line with seasonal trends
To seasonally conduct catwalk analysis, design presentations and print direction overviews
Create seasons flow of print trend themes in line with macro design inspiration and customer profile
Conduct accurate and timely print artwork in line with design and buying critical path requirements.
Conduct competitor reports and advise buying and design departments accordingly
Continually source print inspiration externally
Key Experience, Skills & Abilities
Creative and inspiring print handwriting with an understanding of the Dorothy Perkins vision and customer
A proven track record in print design with a comparable retailer, working at pace and managing multiple deadlines
Strong hand drawing and painting skills with the ability to use lots of colour when interpreting inspiration and trends into commercial print designs for the DP customer
Strong influencing skills to drive the DP print design vision
Ability to work flexibly, proactively and as a member of a team
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to liaise at all levels
Ability to build strong working relationships with Buying teams and Brand Senior Management
Excellent presentation skills and costing experience
Proven experience of putting Prints into repeat
Textiles or Surface Pattern Design Qualification to Degree level
