VP, Digital Marketing - Hudson's Bay (NY)
The Vice President of Digital Marketing, Retention, is responsible for developing and executing retention marketing strategies including email, promotions, loyalty, mobile-app, on-site content and editorial, as well as vendor marketing and partnerships for HBC Digital (Saks.com, Off5th.com, LordandTaylor.com, and Gilt). They will work closely with multiple internal teams on the planning, execution, and reporting of marketing activities that drive HBC Digital’s revenue and marketing contribution goals. They will also manage external vendor relationships; conceptualizing and pitching unique revenue driving opportunities. The ideal candidate will have deep retention marketing experience (especially in Email) in a successful consumer-focused online business and a strong background in online marketing within a retail environment.
• Increase customer retention and conversion rates through best in class email program, personalization, and advanced omni-channel CRM strategy. Develop strategies by banner as well as intricate executional process.
• Develop strategy and vision around SMS, push, and in-app messaging. Partner with CRM, loyalty, and merchandising teams for holistic app engagement approach.
• Concept and pitch unique and creative revenue driving opportunities and partnerships with internal merchant organization and external vendors. Build key relationships internally and externally. Constantly strive for innovation.
• Improve conversion rates and interaction with the websites through clear, compelling onsite story telling. Partner closely with creative and merchandising teams to drive unique site editorial content, share performance metrics, and ensure processes and timelines are adhered to.
• Strategically plan and execute online promotions to drive traffic and sales. Ensure promotions drive incremental sales and are executed flawlessly.
• Mentor and develop senior resources to become accountable decision-makers able to support strategic initiatives independently and report on progress. Identify talent, manage and develop team for future growth within the department and organization.
• Share learnings across organization and digital best practices/training to cross functional teams.
• Leverage understanding of competitive landscape to identify opportunities primarily focused on email, CRM, promotions, vendor partnerships and customer experience and work cross functionally.
Qualifications
Job Requirements Knowledge – level of education required, special certifications or licenses
Bachelor’s degree, MBA a plus
Skills – job specific knowledge and abilities, general business acumen, other required skills
• Extensive online marketing background, specifically email marketing, content, promotions.
• Understanding of retail ecommerce landscape, including marketing and promotions “best practice”.
• Strong analytical, strategic thinking, communication and problem-solving skills
• Excellent writing, speaking, and presentation skills
Experience – level or related/unrelated work experience, number of years in prior jobs
• Minimum of 8-10 years relevant online marketing retail experience.
• Minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience managing a large team with multiple direct reports
Competencies – technical or other skills such as position specific software, financial skills, leadership, team building, training
• Superior analytic skills, and the ability to compile, analyze and leverage performance data to both identify optimize current business and identify new opportunities. Must be passionate about presenting a fact based argument and enjoy numbers.
• Requires extremely strong relationship building internally with IT, CRM and loyalty team, Creative, Merchandising, Core Marketing/PR, GMMs, DMMs, Planning, GM, as well as externally with vendors.
• Extremely proactive with a goal/results-driven orientation, demonstrated ability to meet and exceed targets. Highly accountable for achieving financial goals
• Experience with A/B and multivariate testing
• Proficiency of site analytics tools (e.g., Omniture or Coremetrics) and familiarity with content management tools
• Technical aptitude with web-based tools and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• Proven ability to successfully lead strategic planning and tactical execution; Excels in formulating goals and plans of action and can be relied upon to meet
• Demonstrated success implementing and evolving business strategies within a highly dynamic and large-scale ecommerce business
