POSITION SUMMARY:
The Merchandising Director is responsible for creating, owning, and championing their product lines including overall strategic direction and product line management. This includes business plan development, concept/product briefing, cross-functional team leadership, sales and margin accountability – all with a relevant focus on our consumer and our competition (current/future). Partners with Planning, Design and Product Development to develop, refine, implement and execute design and development calendar dates and deliverables. Establish control-related standards and procedures.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Works in a collaborative manner with sales, design and marketing teams to develop strategies to maximize sales and maintain a consistent strong brand image for both Splendid and ella moss.
2. Delineate product strategy for Splendid & ella moss
3. Focus on assortment, manage overdevelopment
4. Analyze and edit line plan
5. Strategize new product categories (cold weather, shoes, handbags, etc.)
6. Analyzes history and market trends in order to strategically forecast future opportunities.
7. Analyzes, reports and tracks performance of products on the marketplace, and determines reasons for success or failure and adjusts strategy as appropriate.
8. Communicates product and category marketing information to the marketing team to enable development of marketing and sales collateral.
9. Analyzes competitor products, sales programs, and collateral to determine appropriate and competitive product line decisions.
10. Manages the product calendar
11. Retail - support retail growth strategies through targeted buys and working with visual merchandising to market big seasonal ideas
REQUIREMENTS:
• 7+ years of related professional experience.
• B.A. or B.S. degrees required, preferably in Merchandising, Marketing or Product Development related field.
• Experience in apparel or related industry.
SKILLS:
Strong leadership skills with the proven ability to recruit, retain, motivate and develop department staff.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work well with multiple individuals from a variety of different departments.
• Special Physical and/or Mental Requirements: 20% travel required by air and overnight
