GENERAL FUNCTION The Lean Six Sigma Director is responsible for the implementation of Oakley Lean System across Global Manufacturing. The Director creates the strategic lean transformation plan and drives preparation and execution of improvement efforts throughout the organization working through the LEAN Executive Committee and pillars. Engages the organization to adapt or maintain a lean continuous improvement culture in order to enable the organization to improve performance SYSTEM in a sustainable way.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Works with business leaders in the annual strategy deployment planning process and prioritizes improvement opportunities based upon Strategy Deployment and tactical planning objectives.
• Ensures that LEAN work is impacting both results and the culture change towards the vision as determined by the organization.
• Coaches and mentors leadership toward a continuous improvement culture that fosters daily improvement involving all team members.
• Provides lean status reports for both internal and external communications including metric based accomplishments of the transformation plan. Estimates and reports on true savings of lean efforts in all areas.
• Coordinates with master pillar leaders and other LEAN coordinators for execution of plan.
• Drives lean thinking to create enterprise level value stream management including customer interfacing and new product development areas.
• Tracks progress of Lean pillar leaders and empowers team members to implement solutions.
• Assesses the implementation progress across the organization and reports progress to leadership team.
• Promotes and supports cross-fertilization of ideas, knowledge, standards and improvements.
• Coordinates support from external consultants, if applicable.
• Coordinates LEAN trainings at all levels, as needed.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• BS in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain or related field
• Six Sigma Black Belt or Master Black Belt certification
• 10+ years’ experience in an industrial manufacturing environment, to include 5+ years in developing and implementing supply chain, production, and process improvement initiatives within the context of Lean
• Experience in a significant operations role (Continuous Improvement Manager, Operations Manager, project or program manager, quality manager, production control)
• Superior problem solving and analytical skills (both quantitative and qualitative)
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Advanced interpersonal skills, along with the ability to communicate effectively and maintain credibility across all levels in the business
• Demonstrated passion for solving problems and operational excellence
• Focused, organized, results-oriented individual
• Ability to work effectively within a team
• Ability to influence Business Units without direct control
• Self-motivated and able to achieve high impact in an unstructured environment
