POSITION SUMMARY
The Director, Digital Merchandising is responsible for the online merchandising of Cinmar’s eCommerce websites – Frontgate.com and GrandinRoad.com. We are looking for a storyteller, collaborator and brand leader – this person will be responsible for creating a compelling consumer experience that brings the brands to life through all digital touch points, focusing on product, merchandising, service and selection to engage consumers, drive conversion and brand loyalty.
This position owns the development and execution of an annual digital merchandising strategy that helps tell that story. That strategy will be crafted in alignment with the overall company goals and is based on a deep understanding of e-Commerce best practices, target customer segments, available analytics and competitive landscape. This person will track and analyze historical data, site performance and external/internal research to deliver effective merchandising that will drive improvements in site usability, conversion, AOV, Pages/Session and Session Duration, as well as reductions in abandoned cart and bounce rates.
To achieve these goals, this individual will collaborate with a great team across nearly every department of the company to facilitate consistent messaging through other customer touchpoints in and around the company, personalized to the right customer at the right time in their customer journey.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Act as editor-in-chief and digital ambassador as campaign concepts are developed to lead online product and content merchandising.
• Lead, manage and inspire a team of digital merchandising, content and imaging professionals to strategize, setup, maintain, merchandise and optimize all online products and content.
• Lead the strategy and execution of marketing, promotional strategy and seasonal experiences, ensuring accuracy and consistency to improve site productivity and customer experience.
• Write creative/development briefs necessary for production of thematic refreshes and develop the ecommerce merchandising requirements for the campaign briefs.
• Establish a baseline performance standard for placements and assets to make a data driven tradeoff decision and execute both short and long term optimization efforts.
• Forecast, track and monitor business trends, revenue and margin analysis, item performance and other aspects of the business using online analytics system, among other financial reporting software tools.
• Implement merchandising to support multivariate testing and personalization, geo-targeting, special web-only offers, tracking data, reporting results and making recommendations for web enhancements to improve the online customer experience.
• Drive and increase conversion contributing to the growth of the bottom line.
• Establish collaborative relationships and monthly business review meetings with the Category Managers and Buyers to discuss online growth opportunities and ensure consistent customer experience across all channels.
• Optimize online navigation and presentation of FG or GR
• Manage and maintain search results page. Investigate and fix failed searches. Ensure that synonyms are created for frequently misspelled products.
• Analyze and implement product recommendation strategies on a category level, individual product level and in the cart using Certona.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in eCommerce, business, marketing, computer science or other related field.
• 8-10 years B2C eCommerce retail experience with site merchandising responsibilities, working with online product catalogs and web content management systems.
• Previous leadership experience managing and leading direct reports.
• Experience working in a company with a strong catalogue presence a plus, but not required.
• Deep knowledge of online merchandising best practices with a strong merchandising eye.
• Expertise in user experience, design, merchandising, content management and strategy, SEO, SEM, email and social marketing.
• Proven analytical aptitude, being well-versed in using site analytics (Coremetrics and Google Analytics preferably) to analyze data for site merchandising.
• Advanced Excel (pivot tables, graphing, etc.)
• Understanding of web design/development concepts and processes.
• Intermediate understanding of basic web technologies (e.g., HTML, JavaScript, ASP and XML).
• Superior project management skills, including work prioritization, planning, and task delegation.
• Exude a strong sense of teamwork by working together effectively, respectfully and efficiently with all team members in a very fast-paced work environment.
• Flawless verbal and written communication skills.

• Creative problem solving and strong analytical skills
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently in a small, but very fast-paced team.
