External Job Description
Duties
• Manage multiple seasons within your category/categories
• Knowledge of customer needs/wants as well as current and emerging trends with the ability to translate into brand right product balancing core and fashion
• Takes initiative with the “big picture” and how the total look applies across classifications; awareness of other areas and how they relate to your own business
• Travel/Store visits locally
• Partner with Trend on seasonal research; magazines, online services, websites etc. and collaborate with Sr. Trend manager for Seasonal concept coordination
• Clearly present design point of view at seasonal design owned PLC meetings to senior management and merchant team
• Execute timelines on Product Calendar and Line Plan needs
• Support Design Director throughout each process, best practices and milestone meetings
• Complete understanding of fit. Attend all Fit sessions pertaining to your product working closely with the Technical Design partners to maintain initial vision and Brand fit
• Communicate with AGS oversees offices to ensure correct design detail execution for categories
• Coordinate category samples and cads for line review and line close
• Partner and communicate with PD and market vendors to ensure accurate translation of design intent
• Partner with merchants to know and understand sales of your category and able to apply this sales knowledge to future development
• Able to direct and mentor direct reports to create better understanding of Lane Bryant’s customer
• Manage, coach, evaluate direct reports and foster their professional development
• Collaborate with entire design team to ensure “brand codes” are translated from LBR to LB
• Communicate design intent to team, Product Development, TD, and Merchants
• Responsible for sketching, complete accurate seasonal tech pack’s In PLM execution, tech pack updates and seasonal line sheets.
Requirements
• 5-7 years of experience in a design or product development related position for a fashion retailer.
• Extensive background in fit, fabric development, finishes and construction details.
• Bachelor’s degree in design or related field preferred.
• Proficient in Word, Excel and Power Point experience preferred.
• Excellent managerial, organization and leadership skills
• Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
• Ability to build and sustain relationships quickly.
• MUST have Prior PLM experience and be able to sketch in Adobe Illustrator.
