Job Description
The Email Marketing Specialist reports into the Email Marketing Manager and will be a key contributor to driving saks.com revenue via the email channel. This individual will support the daily execution of a robust testing program spanning marketing, promotional and trigger emails, track key performance metrics on an ongoing basis, and derive insights from results to make recommendations to the broader cross-functional teams.
Specific Duties/Responsibilities:
• Develop strategies and implementation plans for new program initiatives with a focus on a more personalized one-to-one customer relationship.
• Support the email process including planning of the email and testing calendars by collaborating with Creative, Merchandising Operations, Merchant and Promotions teams on content that is ROI driven.
• Develop and execute test plans for key email components such as subject lines, timing, creative, segmentation, frequency, etc.
• Collaborate with multiple 3rd party agencies to identify ways to optimize the current email program and processes (trigger based programs, cross-channel initiatives, segmentation strategy, process efficiencies, etc.).
• Represent the marketing and email position among cross-functional partnerships, presenting the marketing team’s case for program enhancements and new initiatives in order to meet goals.
• Weekly, monthly and ad hoc reporting on email performance metrics, analyzing results and identifying opportunities to drive increased email revenue.
• Compare internal and external reporting services to track variance and reconcile differences on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis.
Qualifications
• BS or BA required, concentration in Marketing a plus.
• 2-3 years of experience, preferably in online email marketing. A background in retail is preferable.
• Prior experience managing a daily email campaign and reporting on results with a large-scale ESP is required.
• Superior analytic skills, and the ability to compile, analyze and leverage performance data to both identify optimization within the current business and new opportunities for growth. Must be passionate about presenting a fact based argument and enjoy numbers.
• High comfort level with advanced Excel. Fluency in Word and PowerPoint preferred.
• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a corporate work environment with multiple stakeholders.
• Strong oral, written and presentation skills.
• Careful attention to detail without sacrificing deadlines. The right candidate will be able to juggle several, sometimes conflicting deadlines.
