The industry leading Leadership Development Program Internships at the A&F Home Office offer the top college juniors from around the country the opportunity to make an impact on the company’s performance by driving a piece of a multi-billion dollar business. Our interns go through a 10-week program that uses a combination of training by the retail industry’s leaders and on-the-job experience to learn and practice the skills necessary to run their business. A&F internship programs provide students immediate ownership, exposure to senior level management and a dedicated mentor to support and guide throughout the duration of the summer.
Our internship for Business Analysts allows the associates a unique look at two main functions of our team – Inventory Management and Merchandise Planning. They will gain exposure to and hands-on experience with both throughout their 10 week internship.
INVENTORY ANALYSTS at A&F are responsible for the sales forecasting and global distribution of millions of dollars of merchandise to stores every day. Partnering closely with Merchandise Planning, Inventory Analysts create and execute product strategies to ensure inventory integrity across all stores and maximize overall profitability.
MERCHANDISE PLANNERS at A&F drive the business strategy of an entire product assortment, such as denim, fashion tops, or sweaters, and are responsible for making daily decisions that affect international sales, gross margin, and profit.
Our Business Analyst Interns must be multi-faceted with core strengths including the ability to be highly analytical, the desire to be entrepreneurial, an attention to detail, and an assertive point-of-view to add opinions and new ideas to the team.
BUSINESS ANALYST RESPONSIBILITIES
DRIVE THE BUSINESS
Build a strong plan for a product category based on financial goals, emerging trends, and current sales & inventory analysis. Make business decisions based on profitability, gross margin, and inventory turnover
FORECASTING & ANALYSIS
Create and execute product distribution strategies by analyzing sales data and projecting store inventory levels
CROSS-FUNCTIONAL COLLABORATION
Work in a tight knit, team environment with Merchants, Design, and Brand Senses to ensure the business plan behind the product will deliver successful results
PRESENT TO SENIOR LEADERSHIP
Present selling, inventory analysis and performance–to-plan information to keep everyone updated on current business information
REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS
To be considered for this opportunity, all candidates must have:
• Junior status working towards a Bachelor's degree
• Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
• Proven leadership experience
• Ability to thrive in team-based settings
• Passion for the role and the A&F brands
• Strong desire to pursue a career in retail after graduation and an interest in/aptitude for supply chain and logistics
• Strong presentation skills and the ability to communicate confidently with senior-level leaders
• Ability to balance between a robust analytical capability and an interest in the creative process
LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM INTERNSHIP FEATURES
Our Business Analyst Internship Program provides a select group of college students in their junior year an opportunity to experience being a Business Analyst at Abercrombie & Fitch for 10 weeks over the summer. After two weeks of intensive training, interns will be placed in either Inventory Management or Merchandise Planning depending upon business need. Interns will gain experience in and knowledge of both functions throughout their ten weeks. They will oversee business critical projects in our product facing area including: international vs. domestic selling trends, total company item forecasting, inventory and sales analysis, and global inventory distribution. Additionally, interns will be immersed within their product category participating in product selling reviews, developing department specific strategies, and having a thorough knowledge of the business on which they are focusing. This program is structured to allow interns to take on a great deal of responsibility quickly and gain immediate exposure to senior leadership. Interns will be active players in helping make their department successful for the upcoming seasons.
The Business Analyst Internship is a paid internship based at our Home Office near Columbus, OH. Interns will be paid $9,000 for the 10 week program with benefits including housing for the duration of the program, discounts at all of our brands, and use of the A&F gym. There will also be organized social events, philanthropic activities, and other total company activities throughout the summer.
