The Director of Global Trade Compliance will establish, operate and maintain Crocs’ Customs Compliance Program on behalf of Crocs. This position is responsible for managing, planning, initiating, educating and auditing the policies, procedures, programs, and related import/export and re-export business processes of the Company while building strong relationships both internal and external to the business.
This role will monitor, review and interpret regulations in order to maintain compliance in the context of ongoing operations. This position maintains, administers and supports the corporation’s automated import/export compliance software system. The position will also manage the preparation and submission of applications for commodity jurisdictions (CJs), export licenses, customs rulings, advisory opinions, customer approvals, technical assistance agreements and other related government submissions and/or documentation. Effectively communicates the trade compliance program requirements to appropriate individuals while managing the internal training and audit program. Leads the Global Trade Compliance team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
• Trade program management including NAFTA, duty drawback programs, and others.
• Reviewing initial controls and general compliance related to Customs transactions.
• Lead communication with governmental agencies on topics related to customs and trade compliance; overseeing Customs audits, investigations or other potential or developing disagreements over Customs matters.
• Initiating planning to reduce duty obligations.
• Review qualification and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations for any duty-reduction plans
• Audit import and export filings; resolve discrepancies, request appropriate corrections, reconcile or protest as appropriate; verify valuation methodology including additions and subtractions such as assists and royalties.
• Utilizing USCBP ACE reporting to retrieve trade data such as: HTS, ECCN, Country of Origin, import/export documentation requirements, product labeling requirements, and valuation of products.
• Lead an effective duty engineering program through engagement with Product Development teams
• Ensure that all governmental Restricted Substances regulations are being followed and monitor controls.
• Support PO and Product lifecycles through interface with internal and external customers/vendors, freight forwarders/customs brokers, government agencies and other functional areas to ensure coordination of imports and exports
• Consult and guide facilities in the development, implementation, and maintenance of trade compliance management systems, policies, procedures and work instructions
• Monitor and resolve sanctioned party screening
• Ensure employee understanding of legal regulations and principles relative to the import and export of products through communications and training.
• Keep abreast of changes in trade regulations to ensure company compliance.

• Knowledge of and experience in and foreign import and export regulations.
• Experience with automated trade compliance software systems for transaction screens.
• Experience in analyzing and applying regulations to various import and export business processes and functions is required.
• The proven ability to prepare and obtain commodity jurisdictions, export licenses, technical assistance agreements is mandatory for this position.
• Technical expertise in global trade (import and export) regulations, classifications, valuation, country of origin, duty preference programs, sanctioned party screening and anti-boycott restrictions
• A broad business acumen with strong emphasis on leadership and teamwork ability is required.
• International experience will be expected.
• Global Trade outside of the US
• Excellent analytical and organization skills including ability to collect, structure, analyze and communicate data
