Description
As the Director of Merchandising you will be responsible for creating and driving the merchandising strategy for a Converse and for driving integrated, profitable, relevant product assortments which express the Converse vision in the marketplace.
Key Accountabilities:
MERCHANDISING EXCELLENCE
Provide leadership and functional expertise in the development of the merchandising strategy and execution throughout the seasonal process.
Elevate the consumer experience with the Converse Brand building and driving integrated, profitable and consumer-relevant assortments in the marketplace.
Demonstrate product aesthetic and apply retail acumen while partnering with the product management and the regional merchandising teams to get the right product in the right stores at the right price at the right time.
Align with cross-functional partners (segments: All Star, Cons, Jack Purcell, Kids), sales and DTC, on key seasonal stories and hero product plans.
BUSINESS PLANNING
Provide a critical role in understanding key markets and gaining alignment from those partners on the brand and segment vision
Build competitive landscape, marketplace hindsights and foresights and define Converse door destinations and city mapping.
Think creatively, recognize new business opportunities and communicate them effectively across functions and geographies.
Contribute to the segment P&L, ensuring proper mix and scale to deliver gross margin targets through clear RRP and FOB requirements and sku efficiencies.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree and minimum of 8-10 years’ experience in footwear, apparel merchandising
• Global category management experience preferred
• Understanding of matrix-organizations and wholesale partnerships is ideal
• Ability to apply business and management expertise to achieve financial and operational objectives
• Proven ability to make decisions guided by brand and financial impact(s)
• Knowledge and understanding of product management, marketing, and merchandising
• Demonstrated knowledge of market trends and ability to spot business opportunities.
• Demonstrated experience participating in the creative and business processes.
• Strong influence and organizational skills
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Expertise in assortment planning, retail math and product presentation
