Responsibilities
As a Technical Designer you will be working as part of the Engineering, Development and Design teams on footwear products. In this role, you will be challenged to take athlete data and assist the design teams in visualizing concepts using 3D modelling abilities. You will also be realizing these concepts through sample creation and product development in conjunction with our Asia based teams. You will need project management skills to manage timelines and engineering experience to validate the samples you have created. The role also requires excellent communication skills to keep the teams up to date on project progress.
Responsibilities:
3D modeling skills in multiple software packages including Rhino and Modo
Programming using Grasshopper based on athlete data
Work with Asia on 2D and 3D design files to ensure that direction is executed
Working knowledge of mold making, materials and manufacturing processes
Evaluates and measures molded samples to validate that the properties and performance are meeting the target
Gains knowledge of lasts and grading
Performs or requests the physical testing of engineered components and maintains product specifications and tech packages.
Engagement with WT team and athletes to monitor and evaluate tested samples
Passionate about finding better ways to solve problems
Driven to explore new ideas and techniques, pushing the boundaries of technology for design
Works with biomechanics lab to transfer data to design
Keeps projects on track by coordinating multiple tasks, monitoring the critical path, and meeting milestones/project deadlines
Effective collaborator who works well with teams of diverse background
Communicates progress of product and all changes, problems, etc. to appropriate parties
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Industrial Design, Architecture or Computer Graphics.
• A minimum of 2 years of related experience
• A min 1 year of footwear CAD preferable
• Comfortable in a wide range of 3D software packages including :
• Modeling Tools : Rhino, Modo
• Parametric Modeling tools: Grashopper, Dynamo, Solidworks
• Rendering tools: Keyshot, Modo
• Familiar with one or more text-based scripting languages
