A day in the life…
The Business Development Director is responsible for establishing Nordstrom’s business development capability for marketing and acquisition, including targeting and negotiating relationships with partners focused on driving new customer acquisition to our full price business touch points. This individual will refactor economics of certain existing marketing deals to align with our focus on new customers and profitable spend on existing customers with a lens on CPN (cost per new customer) and CPE (cost per existing). Additionally, applying a view of acquisition, activation, retention and engagement will ultimately maximize customer lifetime value and will seek to find new ways to “be where our customers are” in a relevant, meaningful and value added way.
• Accountable to deliver results in line with the KPI’s set for traffic relationships; # of new customers, cost per new customer, # of returning customers and cost per repeat buyer
• Identify, evaluate and deploy new partnerships within the traditional confines of marketing and outside the boundaries looking at the white space of where Nordstrom customers are in a digitally connected lifestyle
• Lead negotiations and economics structure for all strategic partnerships within acquisition marketing and land partnerships that deliver on our KPI’s and differentiate our competitive position
• Partner with your peers who are leading existing marketing partnerships and with the partners directly to identify opportunities to generate new, targeted demand within ROI and KPI’s targets
• Brings new forms of content partnerships to the business including branded, exclusive and white label
• Support Nordstrom’s focus on driving our brand pillars to differentiate us from the competition
• Measure the business impact of new partnerships and business development initiatives
• Bring industry thought leadership and best practices in digital platforms and partnerships to Nordstrom
• Lead and develop a high performing team
You own this if you have…
• Proven marketing leadership and business results in a large scale business
• 10+ years in consumer marketing and/or business development specific to omni-channel business models
• Bachelor’s degree required, MBA in marketing or related business field preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills
• Business development and strategic partnership leadership experience with proven business results
• Proven team leadership and development
• Passion for innovation and digital marketing and e-commerce
• Strong digital and e-commerce expertise
• Experience presenting and partnering with top level management to drive results
• Strong collaborator and influencer; drive results through expertise but also influence within marketing
