General Summary:
The Sr. Visual Merchandising Manager will support the Director of Visual Merchandising in creating and evolving the compelling seasonal presentations that align with brand strategies.
This position will be a key collaborative partner with cross-functional teams that serve the retail stores for Athleta including Marketing & Creative, Store Experience Team, Field Teams, Merchants and Design.
This position will supervise two Visual Merchandising Associates with creative, motivating and collaborative leadership.
Essential Responsibilities:
• Lead and develop two Visual Merchandising Associates.
• Develop and create and evolve compelling product presentations that align with seasonal Visual Merchandising and Brand strategies.
• Troubleshoot seasonal flows, windows, business strategies and creative needs for stores.
• Collaborate with Merchandising and Design in the pre-season process to innovate and evolve the seasonal assortment and develop retail strategies.
• Build constructive and effective relationships with key cross-functional business partners including Marketing, Planning + Allocation, Store Design, Merchandising, Design and Field to align support of Visual Merchandising and Brand initiatives.
• Partner with the Creative Marketing team to creatively concept new window presentations with an emphasis on innovation and clear brand messaging.
• Work with the Graphic Designer on calendaring of teams and projects as well as approving all Visual communication guides and update vehicles.
• Participate in store openings in order to ensure they open successfully, understand and evaluate the store opening process in the area of visual merchandising, train and develop the new store teams
• Liaison with the Field Visual to ensure consistent visual presentation throughout the fleet of stores and to assist in problem solving.
• Partner with Store experience team to communicate store updates, coordinate new store openings, assist in the development and maintenance of visual merchandising resources for the stores, plan seasonal dates.
• Manage special visual projects, corporate initiatives and events.
Knowledge, skills and abilities
• Minimum six years retail visual merchandising and display experience in a multi store capacity managing high profile, high volume stores
• Strong understanding of the customer and how visual merchandising supports an exceptional customer experience and drives business
• Excellent visual and merchandising skills that can support high profile, high and low volume stores.
• Able to train and develop others during store visits and through store communication
• High level of leadership skills and experience in motivating and influencing others
• Ability to work with various levels of management
• Ability to handle ambiguity
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy and follow-through
• Strong women's fashion and styling sense and knowledge of the competition and industry
• Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Self motivated with the ability to handle multiple projects
• Strong problem analysis and decision making skills
• Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business
• Advanced computer skills a plus
• Professional degree preferred (BS or BA) minimum
• Some travel required
