About the role
Identifying the latest trends is one thing, translating them into wearable fashion for our target customer is quite another. As a designer with your own area of responsibility you’ll need to have a clear understanding of your customer’s needs and wants so that you can create products that fit seamlessly into their lives. You’ll also work closely with the Wallis buying team to ensure they have access to the season's key items.
What you’ll be doing…
Compiling research from inspiration trips, blogs, catwalks, trade shows, comp shops, trend blogs etc
Be a key member in producing colour palettes, stories and themes for the season
Contributing to the strategy on the Tops department
Develop the range to make sure it evolves to meet the needs of the customer e.g. working closely with the B&M team to draw conclusions from trading results, trials and emerging trends
Establishing a close relationship with key suppliers
Designing product for various end uses e.g. smart, event and press
Trend presentations to senior management, commercially identifying key silhouettes and fabrications relevant to the Wallis customer
Producing clear technical packs for suppliers
About You
Good organisational skills with attention to detail and the ability to work to deadlines.
Proven ability to work on own initiative.
Ability to strongly interpret trends into design/product for the Wallis customer and move the range on ensuring it reflects high-street trends.
A real passion for fashion
A flair for design and the ability to make suggestions and ideas.
Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate confidently at all levels.
An enthusiastic team player.
Good management skills/experience of managing direct report(s).
CAD experience is beneficial especially photoshop
