Overview
Manage and achieve the Company’s production targets in a way that is consistent with recognised lean principles with an engaged and motivated work force. Build strong professional relationships to drive productivity, quality and customer service improvements. Ensure health and safety standards are adhered to, as well as identifying areas of potential risk and implementing appropriate action as required.
To be a decisive leader with the ability to make critical and strategic business decisions relating to the goals and objectives of the factory and to domestic manufacturing. To be fair and consistent in approach with a conscientious attitude to work. To be highly motivated, forward thinking and encourage a culture of open communications in order to implement change processes.
Responsibilities
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITES:
• Lead and motivate the manufacturing teams, providing clear and consistent feedback, coaching and developmental opportunities including timely and meaningful appraisals.
• Provide clear expectations to direct reports and teams and ensure they have the resources, training and education to ensure a world class manufacturing service.
• Formulate a manufacturing strategy in line with Flimby OGSP to include audits on daily processes, headcount allocation and planning of equipment, materials and other resources.
• Manage the daily operation of the manufacturing teams to include developing systems to maintain production processes which achieve targets for quality, costs and on time delivery and also includes adherence to standard operating procedures.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of factory constraints to create viable contingency plans, if needed, to ensure targets are met.
• Follow established company policies and procedures to ensure daily customer demand is attained while meeting all safety and quality standards.
• Support CI leading process improvements and team development through lean manufacturing principles, techniques and problem solving activities.
• Track and analyse production data on a daily basis/weekly basis to identify areas for sustainment and improvement.
• Work closely with all management as part of Flimby Leadership Team and support/roll out global initiatives and change processes.
• Be an advocate for health and safety/environmental matters and participate in rolling out change initiatives in these areas.
• Ensure all actions are in line with NB Leadership Competencies and NB Core Values.
KEY CUSTOMERS:
• Manufacturing Team – focus on continued growth and improvements to ensure manufacturing standards and goals are met.
• Management – build strong professional relationships to ensure a world class manufacturing service.
• Support Departments – communicate and collaborate on key strategies for Flimby.
• External Providers – promote company values and a professional approach.
MEASURES OF SUCCESS
• Achieving targeted KPI’s.
• 5% productivity improvement per annum as a minimum requirement.
• Quality to 1% reject rate.
• Drive and sustain CI through Lean initiatives.
• Motivated and engaged workforce.
REPORTING STRUCTURE
• Reports directly to the Factory Manager
• Manages a workforce of approx. 200 associates.
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS
• Professional leadership, supervision and management skills.
• Experience of developing and leading teams including team facilitation and coaching.
• Hands on experience utilising LEAN manufacturing and Six Sigma processes.
• Demonstrated ability in project management.
• Commitment to continuous learning and person growth.
• Practical experience in a labour intensive manufacturing environment.
• Moderate to Proficient PC skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Degree level or equivalent education.
• Excellent communication skills at all levels.
• Customer focused.
• Results focused.
