Description
We are looking at the European Headquarters for a senior designer color. In this role your mission is to elevate the Nike product experience with a focus on both the art & science of Color. You will be driving color excellence through the connection of design, development and manufacturing. Your focus will brings the seasonal category color direction to life that is trend relevant to the category consumer.
Responsibilities:
• Drives the category color strategy and application.
• Utilizes strong understanding of color technology and how to achieve desired color effects: materials, dyes, finishes and color achievability.
• Plans and executes the product color details and reviews samples, troubleshoots achievability issues 25% of the time.
• Builds awareness of current color trends, through fashion, art, design and sports-related products through market research to keep abreast of consumer needs.
• Provides category forecast color needs for global palette building.
• Uses solid presentation skills to varied audiences.
• Shares process and product finishing expertise across category and design function and influences others to evolve creative skills.
• Leads in depth research on consumer trends, insights, competitors, for a focused market segment/category.
• Stays abreast of industry and technology development within the product design profession.
• Continuously advances product, process, and design skills reflective of an expert design professional.
• Rotating member of Color Council.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Design, Art or a related field
• At least 8 years' relevant work experience or Associate of Art degree from an accredited art school with a minimum of 5 years' experience in a design environment working with colors, palette development and/or color trends
• Demonstrated knowledge of Macintosh computers and Photoshop, Free Hand and/or Illustrator
• Knowledge of CAD programs, preferably in a Macintosh environment
• Understanding of color trends and how they evolve
• Thorough knowledge of art and design with a clear understanding of visual design concepts, including color mixing, color compatibility and color placement
• Knowledge of product design and development process
• Familiarity with product manufacturing processes, including materials/fabrics, plastics and pigments
• Ability to utilize computer programs that accurately show category color philosophy, product colors, placement and material effects and merchandising strategies
• Strong time management and organization skills with the ability to assess and prioritize workloads
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work successfully under tight timelines and heavy workloads
• Active listening skills, as well as demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to speak the language of various groups such as Designers, Developers and Product Line Managers
• Ability to travel both domestically and internationally.
