Responsibilities:
The Senior Director of Merchandising is responsible for developing and delivering the company’s merchandising strategy. This person will participate in strategic decisions and design development, and will also focus on process improvements and leading the team in execution under tight deadlines.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Create and drive an overarching divisional strategy that meets financial targets, aligns to the company strategy, and moves the brand forward.
Lead the Cross Functional team in aligning to and executing the strategies
• Provide thorough and meaningful analysis of divisional business and effectively articulate learning’s to senior management and cross-functional partners. Identify and react to risks and opportunities in the business.
• Responsible for divisional seasonal line plans that effectively and accurately guide design, product development and production and support divisional objectives
• Responsible for assorting and presenting divisional seasonal product assortments to senior management that meet financial targets and maximize divisional objectives
• Owns divisional pricing strategy that aligns with brand positioning
• Review divisional sales, receipt flow, inventory, and margin projections for monthly Open to Buy meetings
• Work closely with planning to build divisional and departmental pre-line class plans and seasonal investment strategies that align to departmental and divisional strategies
• Maintain and demonstrate expert knowledge of customer base through field conference calls, frequently visiting stores and constantly reaching out for direct consumer feedback
• Maintain and demonstrate constant understanding of the competitive environment
• Serve as Team Leader for the cross functional teams. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with members of cross-functional teams
• Provide the direction and prioritization necessary to manage multiple seasons and pipelines
• Effectively manage and develop direct reports. Recognize and develop high potential employees
• Demonstrate leadership ability in inspiring and motivating the team and recognizing successes
• Manage divisional travel budget
• Work with senior cross functional partners to review and improve processes
Qualifications:
• Bachelors Degree required
• 6 + years of merchandising experience
• 3 to 4 years coaching and managing teams and individuals
• Passion & Eye for Product
• Demonstrate deep understanding of competitive pricing positions
• Detail-oriented, process-oriented, and able to handle multiple tasks at once; Ability to handle multiple and competing projects
• Ability to clearly articulate a point of view
• Business Acumen
• Organized with time management skills; excellent with coordinating timelines and delivering on multiple deadlines•
• Able to build strong working relationships with all areas of the business; Team player
