Responsibilities:
The Senior Manager/Director of Merchandising is a fundamental role within the organization and responsible to lead the process to define the assortment strategy to win in the Men’s contemporary market. This role will support the achievement of the overall sales plan and will have full responsibility for gross margin. Also, a fundamental part of this role will be supporting Design and Marketing in defining the “story telling” of the brand and utilizing that story to strategically determine how products are presented to the consumer (both on-line and in stores).
Responsibilities:
• Support management in driving the long term strategic planning for the Jack Spade line architecture – which includes Men’s apparel, accessories and other potential categories that reflect a global lifestyle brand
• Identify white space opportunities (key categories, price positioning, type of product etc), define business potential and create an assortment plan coherent with the brand values
• Collaborate with Design, Product Development/Production, Buying and Wholesale to execute the assortment plan (product selection, price, margins, what to buy and market presentation strategy)
• Maintain an in depth and up to date awareness of the competitive landscape to identify opportunities for future growth and opportunities for the brand
• Collaborate with leadership peers to continuously define and evolve the brand as it relates to our core vision for the brand and marketing strategy
• Analyze global sales, feedback and historical data to inform all merchandising decisions
• Lead development milestone meetings, including design reviews, line pricing, line architecture and category presentations
• Support the process of establishing seasonal pricing strategy across all areas of responsibility
• Liaise with cross-functional teams to execute seasonal assortments from concept to store
• Collaborate with merchant leaders across product categories to build a cohesive lifestyle assortment
• Partner with KSNY merchandising team to ensure alignment of product direction
• Mentor and lead a team of seasoned merchants – play a key role in creating future leaders of the organization
• Set standards across the cross functional team regarding brand identity and product integrity and hold all internal and external partners accountable
Qualifications:
• 5+ years of progressive merchandising relevant experience
• Very strong product knowledge of menswear within the contemporary arena
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficient in windows-based software such as excel and word
• Ability to translate creative vision into commercial opportunities
• Experience working in a Men’s contemporary lifestyle brand; including apparel, accessories, and other product categories
• An understanding of the global market and the ability to grasp the cultural and commercial nuances
• Must be able to utilize and master internal software systems
• Exceptional organizational skills
• Strategic planning and competitive analysis abilities
• Ability to interact with multiple departments and with employees at all levels
• Understanding of and passion for the men’s contemporary fashion retail space
