Senior Director of Commercial Finance, North America Gap Brand
GENERAL SUMMARY: Position leads the finance team responsible for supporting the Gap brand North America field organization to develop and deliver store financial targets, including sales productivity and profitability plans. Provides actionable reporting and analysis which influences strong financial decision-making. Identifies commercial and process improvement opportunities and partners with the business to deliver these. Accountable for the development of Payroll and Other Store Expense budget, forecast, and close. Primary finance contact for Store Zone VPs and VP of Operations
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Leads, motivates and develops a team of managers and individual contributors to a highly functioning team engaged in the business and respected by business partners
• Partner with the Field VPs and RDs to develop and deliver sales and profit strategies
• Provide actionable analysis on fleet productivity and profitability, and hindsight analysis on strategic store actions or promotional testing. Analyze business drivers, assess trends, and communicate risks and opportunities to key business partners.
• Develops strong partnerships across Finance functional areas, including Company Planning, FP&A and Strategic Sourcing to create strong financial plans and strategies for Gap brand stores
• Delivers payroll plans that support the stores to deliver their financial targets; Provides actionable labor reporting and analysis to identify productivity and profitability opportunities
• Partner with store and operations leadership to set annual store goals and quarterly incentive plans which motivate performance and deliver profitability targets
• Provide reporting which is relevant, impactful, consistent and concise, enabling the stores and field team to best manage their business
• Provide business acumen training to support financial education and development of the stores and field team
• Direct the team responsible for managing all store and field expense processes with monthly financial forecasts / close results that accurately predict business performance; communicate key issues to the Field and Finance leadership teams
• Review, evaluate and approve monthly forecast & close in line with GAAP and SOX compliance
• Collaborates cross-functionally and across Brands to educate and influence on Finance objectives and share best practices
• Support and/or drive key strategic & departmental initiatives and analysis
• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance/Accounting, or related field; MBA a plus
• 10 years of work experience, preferably in Finance and/or Operations
• Proven ability to successfully lead a team in an environment with a high level of ambiguity and change
• Global thinker who promotes communication, fosters teamwork across the organization, and achieves consensus; excellent interpersonal skills, ability to build partnerships, and influence decisions
• Management experience in building a highly functioning team and developing people
• Demonstrated poise and confidence in working with senior management
• Experience managing and executing core financial processes such as forecast, budget and close
• Strong financial theory; exceptional analytical and modeling skills
• Proven ability to interpret and synthesize data into intelligent business recommendations/decisions; ability to articulate ideas in a simple manner.
• Flexible, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and be able to prioritize in a fast paced environment
• Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills
• Proven track record to drive and implement strategic initiatives
