Description
ROLE:
Clinique.com has an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated Digital Design Director / Art Director to contribute to our in-house Ecommerce Creative team. The ideal candidate is a digital native with strong visual concepting skills, meticulous craftsmanship and a passion for photography and design. Must be extremely organized with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure creative environment.
PRINCIPLE OBJECTIVE:
The Design Director, Ecommerce will be a key driver of creative excellence, helping to move the needle towards more emotional, brand-building creative executions that weave content into ecommerce. Projects will range from hands-on design of site refreshes, emails and promotions to concepting for large-scale, high profile programs, to elevating Clinique.com and our other digital platforms. Key responsibilities will include managing and mentoring the Digital Design team, planning and directing photo shoots, evolving our style guides, templates and processes.
This position is extremely collaborative and requires a high level of social savvy and professionalism.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Evolve and elevate Clinique’s digital design presence while supporting and maintaining its already-strong brand DNA.
• Drive concept ideation for digital marketing initiatives based on strategic objectives and KPIs
• Concept and design a wide variety of digital assets including homepages, landing pages, emails and banners
• Direct all phases of digital asset creation (photo shoots, production art, image compression, animation, etc.) for desktop, mobile, email, online advertising and retailer partners
• Evolve and extend Clinique’s global digital style guidelines
• Lead, mentor, manage and inspire Clinique’s Ecommerce design team, providing thought leadership, sharing best practices and leading brainstorms
• Collaborate with Copy, Social and Offline Creative teams to streamline content creation
• Oversee and provide feedback to global markets and outside agency partners
• Stay up to date on the latest design trends, digital platforms, innovative tools and competitive landscape.
• Meet all deadlines under pressure and react to unexpected schedule changes
QUALIFICATIONS:
• 8+ years related design experience—with a minimum of 3 years working in-house
• BA/BS/BFA degree or equivalent in graphic design or art direction
• Proven experience working for a busy Ecommerce company, repeatedly coming up with new and fresh ideas for programs and campaigns
• Impeccable taste, typographic skills and craftsmanship
• Fluency designing with motion, animation and video
• Ability to lead a team and juggle multiple hands-on projects simultaneously
• Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Deep knowledge of all the relevant digital software and processes (e.g. Adobe CS, image compression, animation, HTML5, etc.)
• Strong communication skills and collaborative/open-minded working style
• A great portfolio showing high-end product design work for the following: desktop, mobile, email, online advertising, product launches, campaigns, promotions, and other marketing related projects
PREFERRED:
• Experience designing for women and beauty/fashion/luxury brands
• UX/UI experience designing websites or other digital platforms
• An obsession with online shopping!
