Description
Director Merchant EM, Multi-Performance needed for NIKE, Inc., located in Beaverton, OR. Needed to provide territory teams with strategy and direction to grow NIKE’s multi-performance category, which includes NIKE Basketball, Jordan brand, Men’s Running, NIKE Skateboarding, NIKE Tennis, NIKE Cricket, NIKE Rugby, Australian Football League, NIKE Baseball, and NFL. Will ensure assortments and product offering cover both NIKE’s brand voice and local market needs to increase NIKE’s market share within each country. Will work cross functionally along NIKE’s internal Go to Market process to identify gaps and potential business opportunities. Will analyze marketplace, consumer insights, and competitive data to prepare global / regional / local assessments regarding trends and metrics. Will adopt and edit Global assortments to tailor them to specific needs of Emerging Markets countries, considering market capacity and planning to space while driving segmentation across channels of distribution and productivity. Will collaborate cross functionally to optimize management of global assortments and product line offering through specialized forecasts, pricing and flow. Will influence territory merchandising teams to elevate the level of planning and execution of NIKE’s multi-performance category in the marketplace. Will proactively work cross functionally within Emerging Markets organization to identify process opportunities and influence leaner ways of working. Will supervise 5 Manager Merchants. Will travel 20% of time to meet with NIKE employees in other countries.
Qualifications
Applicant must have a Bachelor’s degree in Merchandising, Marketing, or Design and five years of overall progressive experience as a Merchandiser, Brand Merchant, Business Planner, or Product Line Manager. Must have five years of experience in the following:
(1) working in a global retail sales organization,
(2) working with global product creation processes,
(3) assorting and editing a product line for profitability,
(4) preparing reports and product performance and consumer insights.
(5) working with balance sheets and budgeting tools,
(6) working on trends, colors, materials, silhouettes and fashion to determine right product for consumers,
(7) working in merchandising at a vertical retail, country or regional merchandising environment with the sports footwear and sports apparel industry,
(8) analyzing marketplace, consumer insights, and competitive data to prepare global, regional, and local assessments regarding trends and metrics, and
(9) preparing specialized forecasts, pricing, and flow for sports footwear and sports apparel industry.
