The Forecast Manager partners with the replenishment managers, Inventory deployment managers and the senior merchandising team to align the forecasting/replenishment vision with the merchandise strategy and leads its execution with the forecasting and replenishement team. As a member of the merchandising leadership team, the forecasting manager is accountable to meet and exceed departmental sales volume, gross margin and gross margin-return-on-investment (GMROI) targets.
A day in the life...
• Fosters a thorough understanding and application of the needs, wants and expectations of the customer to influence the replenishment merchandising strategy
• Coach deep multi-channel expertise, including merchandising knowledge, customer behavior and competition for Store and Online channels
• Ensure collaboration between forecasting and replenishment team and merchant partners to create demand plans, financial plans, and goals that maximize total results
• Drive replenishment performance in the forecasting and management of items
• Ensure effective analysis and decision making to improve replenishment sales and inventory results and complement the total assortment
• Coach forecasting team to contribute to business reviews and open-to-buy management
• Coach effective forecasting partnerships with replenishment and reserve stock teams
• Ensure proficiency in applicable systems, including RDF, replenishment, item planning, reporting and division-specific tools
• Ability to manage a large team across many areas
• Ability to act as a Subject Matter expert for future projects
You own this if you have…
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
• Minimum 3 years retail forecasting experience
• Minimum 2 years retail experience interacting directly with customers
• Minimum 1 year of retail planning/inventory management or related experience
• Nordstrom experience preferred
• Expertise in merchandise category
• Demonstrated understanding of retail and the service environment of Nordstrom
• Proficiency in Forecasting methodologies and systems
• Proficiency in MS Office suite
• Clear and effective written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills
