Description
Position: Director, Retail Marketing
Location: New York City
Reports to: Vice President, Marketing
Bumble and bumble is a fast-growing, luxury hair care brand located in NYC. It started as an NYC salon and evolved into a multi-million dollar brand comprised of 2 salons, a product company that houses a strong in-house creative agency, a direct sales force, and a university for hairdressers and salon owners.
To this day we are committed to cultivating creativity while remaining deeply and passionately dedicated to the craft, culture and commerce of hairdressing.
Position Summary:Directs and supervises the development of Bumble and bumble North America marketing strategies, program and tactics consistent with the brand’s short and long term goals. Helps achieve North American Sales and new business goals through Marketing programs and tools that drive success in Network Salons, Retail Locations, and NY Bb. Salons. Responsible for exceptional execution of launches/promotions by maximizing the Forecasting, Field Sales and Marketing Execution processes. Strong liaison between Sales leadership, Operations and Global Marketing
Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning and Program Development
• Lead the creation of the overall marketing strategy for North America each season with input from Sales and Global Marketing, developing programs that address the needs of Network Salons, Retail Locations, and NY Bb. Salons.
• Spearhead the development of both national and retailer-specific marketing programs, driving profitability through innovative programs that drive retail sales and service.
• Drive increased transactions in Network Salons, Retail Locations, and NY Bb. Salons through:
• Maximize success through Visual Merchandising campaigns
• Leveraging existing growth drivers and new product launches.
• Developing a product sampling implementation strategy for Network Salons, Retail Locations, and NY Bb. Salons
• Client Recruitment campaigns, programs and tools
Program Planning, Execution, and Daily Operations
• Directs the interaction between Global Marketing, Merchandising, Education, Demand Planning, and other cross-functional groups in the planning and execution of marketing programs including budget management, field planning and execution, and field communication
• Supervises, develops, and trains direct reports to lead planning and execution of programs.
• Guides marketing team to direct, prioritize, organize, and integrate activities across all business channels.
• Collaborates with online group to maximize online programs and bolster retail sales
• Create and administer the Marketing Execution annual strategy and planning activities, including the prioritization and integration of all launches and programs, implementing, managing, tracking and evaluating merchandising campaigns, integration of both consumer and professional messaging, window merchandising program and salon promotional and educational events.
• Understand field executional issues and operational constraints, make recommendations and lead changes
Retailer-Specific and Field-Driven Programs
• Serve as key contact for the field team, devising strategies for field-driven initiatives.
• Directs development and execution of retailer-exclusive marketing programs execution via direct report
• Address and serve both network salon and retailer needs and objectives in both internal marketing and retailer meetings; closely collaborate with field and retail partners.
• Guide the development of Network Salon and retailer presentations of the marketing program, with the goal of generating support for all programs
• Work with Bb. Digital Marketing team, to lead changes to the Network website in order to better service the Network.
• Act as a liaison between N.A. Sales and Global Marketing
Business Analysis and Program Success Measurement
• Make analytically supported recommendations to influence sales performance
◦ Regularly provide salon industry intelligence, research, competitive information and analysis to Global Marketing and President
• Guides marketing team in conducting analyses to measure the effectiveness of marketing programs
◦ Analyze field feedback, sales data, distribution information, promotional activity, changing business conditions and competitive activity that may influence plan performance.
New Product Launch Budget Management
• Develop and consolidate the annual North American Marketing budget and monitor it in conjunction with VP of Global Marketing and Finance.
◦ Develop expense budgets on assigned projects to support goals.
◦ Ensure the control of marketing expenditures within approved budget and risk parameters, recommending modifications as required to achieve volume and profit commitments
• Recommends strategies and tactical plans to ensure the most efficient spend of marketing funds with maximum sales impact
Other
• Management of the Brand Expression Program
• Field and Internal Training as needed
• Client Presentations as needed
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Must have ability to think strategically and to conceptualize and implement new ideas.
• Must have the strong analytical skills and detail orientation required to manage highly complex categories, programs and retailer initiatives.
• Requires strong problem solving capabilities and ability to work independently.
• Requires strong oral and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal and team building capabilities with internal functional groups as well as with external partners.
Education and Experience:
• Bachelors degree; MBA preferred
• 8+ years Marketing experience with a proven track record in North American Marketing and solid exposure to Sales.
• Salon industry experience strongly preferred.
