Job DescriptionAs part of the Product Creation team at Timberland, lead the Merchandising team to become the centre of excellence on product, marketplace, retail and consumer reality.
Responsible to drive Merchandising plans that reflect business needs, new brand opportunities and financial goals.
Creates the business and category vision together with the Product Creation Leadership.
Apply extensive product, commercial and retail knowledge to build an open and constant relation with the regional brand teams, as well as global sourcing and marketing teams.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
• Accountable for the strategic product line planning, complexity, margin and pricing architecture.
• Drives the creation of retail capsules and assortments that resonate with Brand storytelling strategy and business priorities
• Keeps Product Managers accountable for execution and timeline
• Provide key input in key calendar meetings to facilitate decision making on product, flow, sourcing and marketing related topics
• Supports Merch Managers in strengthening the relationship with the Regional stakeholders
• Collaborate closely with the Design and Development Directors to ensure full alignment on product requirements and timely developments
• Accountable for Global line adoption and efficiency
• Support and be an active partner of Regional Merch in key accounts meetings
• Have a 360 view on the business strategy and evolution, from brief and commercial needs to Design intent and Operational practicality
• Partners with Leadership and Business Planning to build development calendar that reflects Apparel vision
• Collaborate with HR to develop team’s career planning and trainings
• Be an engaged and committed team-mate, Be a facilitator in negotiations
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree or (equivalent)
• Experience: 10+ years Merchandising, Buying, Sales, Product Management in globally present brand organizations
• Languages: Fluent English essential, additional language is a plus
• Skills:
Strong in MS package; proficiency with Product Data Management systems
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Analytical mind-set with strong knowledge of retail/apparel industry and keen eye for style and trends
Solid negotiation skills and superior ability to influence areas outside of direct control
Strong business acumen in channel distribution, gross sales, sellout performance margin, profit and inventory
