There is an immediate opening for an Assistant Buyer on Nautica Kids. The primary job responsibilities of the Retail Buyer are to develop and execute merchandising strategies that maximize sales, margin, inventory turnover, visual presentation and customer satisfaction. Drives initial implementation and daily execution for planning, analyzing, forecasting and distribution of VF Sportswear merchandise while adhering to company and divisional strategies.
This position is responsible for maximizing sales and profitability through accurate and timely distributions of product to the stores. Distributions are based on historical data, overall merchandise strategies developed by the buyer and planner, trend analysis, and store capacity and profiling information.
• Creates seasonal merchandise financial plans and performs monthly reforecast of business by classification, department, and division. Develops assortment plans in units and dollars for all stores. Develops purchase quantities each season to achieve sales, margin, turnover, and visual merchandising objectives. Manages purchase order process.
• Reviews sales results to strategize timely mark-down strategies and manages old age inventories through strategic liquidation. Researches sales and inventory results by class by month and draws conclusions about business trends. Assists in the development of yearly advertising and sales promotion plans for Outlet and Retail Stores in conjunction with Merchandise Manager and Marketing Department partners. Coordinates divisional activities to execute and analyze sales promotion plan. Coordinates advertised merchandise, pricing, and Point of Sale materials within division for greatest impact and achievement of financial goals. Recaps ad events and reports to Merchandise team, Store Operations, and Marketing Department
• Determines appropriate timing of initial and replenishment deliveries based on merchandising and logistical considerations. Coordinates initial distributions of new product/seasonal purchases ensuring that strategy considers needs by division, volume, climate, and physical space.
• Strategizes anticipated product demand based on timing of mark-downs and holidays. Strategizes opening assortments, quantities, and timing of deliveries for new stores in conjunction with Merchandise Manager, Store Operations, Real Estate, and Construction.
• Distributes Retail and Outlet store inventories to support sales, margins, and turnover objectives. Coordinates timing of delivery of initial and replenishment distributions between Distribution Center, Visual Merchandising, I.T., and Store Operations. Develops regional and store specific assortment plans with the input of the store management teams.
• Generates data and makes recommendations based on analysis of merchandise performance by store. Analyzes color, size, class, and division selling to provide feedback to Retail and Management team and takes action to drive business to improve future purchase decisions. Creates selling reports, historical recaps, and ad-hoc reports to analyze and communicate business performance.
• Performs store visits and reports feedback to division. Fills special orders as needed. Ensures that fully functioning and accurate Retail/Wholesale systems (I.P. and Movex) remains a high priority within Retail and I.T. Divisions. Ensures that data held in I.P. system is current and timely (e.g. receipt processing). Performs these and other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience:
Years of Related Professional Experience: 2-3
Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business, Retail Merchandising or related field and/or relevant experience.
A minimum of one year of experience in the retail industry. This can be store or corporate office experience.
