Are you an experience brand marketing leader with a passion for sneakers and streetwear? An exciting opportunity exists to join adidas Group Japan Brand Marketing team as Senior Manager, Brand Communications - adidas Originalsreporting into the Director for adidas Originals & Action Sports Japan.
Purpose of Role:
Leading a small team you will be responsible for planning the effective implementation of the Global adidas Originals communication strategy throughout Japan in order to build the Brand and the Category and to drive sell sales through all channels (wholesale, retail, e-com)
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide input into the overall seasonal, annual and Strategic Business Plan for the category in order to drive sell through of key concepts.
• Provide input into the creation of the Japan brand calendar using global direction and leveraging local opportunities to amplify the brand ultimately leading to sell through of adidas Originals product stories in all channels (Wholesale/trade, retail, e-com)
• Create the seasonal and annual brand marketing strategy and activation plan (including Tokyo Key City Attack plans and integration of influencer marketing assets), landing the global priorities and significantly improving brand KPIs.
• Allocate and manage category flex MWB across the marketing mix to best improve brand and business KPI’s in line with ROI.
• Ensure category and brand plan executional excellence and monitor and report on performance against the brand and business KPIs.
• Provide input to the Global BU to ensure brand marketing tools are optimized to meet Japan's needs and significantly improve brand business KPIs across each campaign
• Deliver the best possible sell-in tools (advertising, media, trade marketing, own retail marketing, e-com, consumer-facing events, PR and social tools > GRPs) for the category in alignment with global.
• Manage category flexi Marketing Working, looking for efficiencies whether internally or externally.
• Develop, monitor, analyse and review return on investment against each campaign and develop recommendations for continuous improvement.
Key Managerial Responsibilities:
• Establish a high performance culture and drive employee engagement, leading by example.
• Provide a suitable performance framework for direct reports by setting SMART performance targets and coaching for continuous improvement.
• Identify and develop high-potential talents, to fuel the team's succession plan.
• Look for opportunities to provide cross-functional experiences to identified high-potential talents from both, in and outside of the team.
KPI’s:
• Brand Health KPIS (Brand momentum, Net Promoter Score, Spontaneous purchase intent, GRP, etc.)
• Market Share
• Market Sales vs Plan
Key Relationships:
• Director, adidas Originals & Action Sports Japan
• adidas Originals Merchandising/Product team
• Wholesale/trade, Retail and e-com Marketing teams
• Global adidas Originals counterparts in Germany
The ideal candidate:
The ideal candidate will have completed a Marketing or related qualification and will be passionate about the adidas Orginals Brand. We are looking for an experienced, highly organized and hard working individual with exceptional attention to detail, initiative and a strategic mindset. You will be a strong leader but also have the ability to work independently when required. You will also be customer focused and results orientated.
To succeed in this role, you will need to have the following skills / qualities / experience:
• Driven personality who understands all marketing disciplines and how to orchestrate them across categories across all distribution channels.
• Significant knowledge of the full marketing mix (advertising, events, influencer, retail/trade) with a major brand or retailer (sporting goods or lifestyle/streetwear industry preferred).
• Leading and managing a diverse team.
• Proven media planning/buying experience.
• Good understanding of the Consumer Campaign Process from brief through to execution.
• Ability to work in a Matrix organisation with experience in influencing Cross-functionally and cross-culturally
• Ability to build strong relationships internally (cross functional) and externally (agency management).
• Marketing budget management.
• Understanding of the Japanese streetwear/lifestyle consumer (from professional experience and/or personal affiliation)
• Overseas work experience or education (international mindset)
Requisite Education & Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelors in related field required.
• 4 - 6 years of experience in min. two brand marketing disciplines.
• > 3 years leadership experience.
• Fluent in Japanese & English (writing and verbal).
• Excellent presentation skills.
• IT Skills: Outlook, Excel and Word: Basic; PowerPoint: advanced.
