PRINCIPLE OBJECTIVE:
The Executive Director will provide leadership in the conceptualization, coordination, design, planning and successful execution of all Store Design and Visual Merchandising elements regarding launches, promotions, events, and basic business in North America; ensure that Visual Merchandising guidelines are consistent with Clinique standards for brand image, and address the marketing strategies and financial goals of North America.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Visual Merchandising
• Collaborate with Cross-Functional teams (North America Marketing, Sales, Education, the Field, Special Events, Promotions and Creative departments) to have visibility to the global brand strategy and vision while understanding the regional nuances of the North America region.
• Concept and execution of visual merchandising initiatives, overseeing phases of projects, collaborate with vendors on new projects and partner with global design teams on creative execution.
• Utilize Global guidelines while executing regionally relevant programs that address the North American strategies and financial goals.
• Ability to communicate regions specific requirements and opportunities to global stake holders and propose solutions that maintain global brand integrity while meeting regional objectives.
• Liaise with Operations department to manage workflow, re-prioritize, and ensure all jobs and ensure timelines are met.
• Demonstrate an understanding of materials, costs, and time requirements on projects. Interact with Corporate Purchasing to resolve issues of function, performance, manufacturing, cost and scheduling during design development and production phases of projects.
• Continue to develop merchandising guidelines for on going seasonal programs to communicate execution in the field. Spend time at the point of sale with the design teams, sales field, and consultants to develop a better understanding of challenges, actual site conditions and have a proper understanding of the customer experience.
• Maintain awareness of current trends in visual arts and merchandising, travel as necessary, and complete in-store site visits to observe counters in action and/or approve production, research trends and materials. Elevate execution and maintain brand expectations.
• Maintain working relationship with all internal and external groups. Awareness of retailer processes, restrictions, approval processes and schedules.
Store Design
• Design and planning of all North America store design installations including communication with NOAM sales/ field, corporate store design, retailers and internal merchandising teams.
• Manage store design group workflow. Ensure all projects are prepared for approval, coordinating with internal groups to allow input on plans on a timely basis. Obtain Sales/Field/ Retailer approvals.
• Communicate with Corporate Store Design Team on execution of all retail projects and corporate initiatives. Ensure punch lists and miscellaneous pre and post opening items are executed in a timely manner.
• Ensure brand design standards are communicated and updated to corporate store design team. Input on cost reduction and design detail value engineering is desired.
• Maintain working relationship with all internal and external groups. Awareness of retailer processes, restrictions, approval processes and schedules.
Staff Management
• Manage and motivate staff (3D and 2D) to maximize job performance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor of Science or Fine Arts or Masters of Architecture
• Minimum 10 years of related experience; cosmetic/retail experience a plus
• Knowledge of Design software: Illustrator, Adobe Creative Cloud, AutoCAD,
and Rhino (not necessary).
• Position requires leadership skills and project management skills; ability to execute several projects in a timely and efficient manner; must be able to follow projects from inception to completion.
• Excellent communication, organizational and presentation skills.
• Knowledge of retail environments (Department and Specialty Stores).
• Work independently and interface with Marketing, Sales, Field Teams, Merchandising, Packaging, and Creative Services departments.
