THE ROLE
A great opportunity has arisen within the Evans team for a trend driven Senior Designer, reporting to the Head of Design. The role is to cover Casual, Jersey and Woven.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING DAY TO DAY
• Work closely with the Head of Design to drive trend through the Design team whilst also working closely with the Buying, Merchandising and Technical teams to deliver the Brand vision for our Formal woven offer.
• Work closely with the other Senior Designers to take the brand strategy and interpret for the product direction and trend in line with business goals
• Support the Head of Design in leading and developing the Design team, ensuring the team work together to meet deadlines.
• Producing commercial and detailed designs to a level appropriate for briefing suppliers.
• Preparing seasonal packs for B&M and Design teams for relevant product area. These include seasonal trend packs, departmental strategy packs, catwalk overviews and shopping for product development.
• Keep abreast of competition and high street to enable you to;
• Forecast, analyse and update the product team on key looks, trends and shop reports
• Drive product and range development for the target customer
• Developing the product strategy in conjunction with the Buyers, Designers, Merchandisers and Technical Team which can be translated into specific products for a range
• Working with the Buyer to evolve the range to ensure it continues to meet the needs of the customer.
• Driving the fashionability of the range, appropriate for the Evans customer.
• Ad hoc projects as required.
• To manage junior team members through 1.1's, mentoring and problem solving where required.
• Developing critical path with Head of Design.
• To be a point of contact for all departments in the absence of Head of Design.
• Ensuring packs and presentations are fully prepared for Head of Design in line with critical path.
MUST HAVES
Desirable
• Proven experience in a similar role (ideally a retail background).
• Ability to deliver presentations to all levels with confidence and impact.
• Catwalk aware with a good eye for print and colour.
• CAD experience is beneficial.
• Indian experience.
Essential
• Demonstrable leadership skills.
• Good organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
• The ability to work to deadlines and work and plan ahead of the critical path.
• Proven ability to work on own initiative.
• The ability and confidence to make independent decisions.
• Passionate about trend with the ability to translate trend for the Evans customer in a commercial way.
• A flair for design and the ability to make suggestions and ideas.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate confidently and build relationships at all levels, including Senior Management.
