Purpose:
Lead the teams and processes responsible for all aspects of TEAM uniform production including; pattern development, cutting, knitting, sewing, sublimation, inspection and storage of raw materials and blanks. A key focus of the role will be in ensuring compliance with all applicable health and safety policies and regulations and the company’s internal controls policies. In addition to the daily operation of the plant, responsibilities also include expense budgeting, KPI reporting and the preparation of any month-end expense and inventory reporting required by the finance department.
Key Accountabilities:
• Oversee the complete operation of the TEAM uniform manufacturing department; including scheduling of staff, preparing and adhering to expense budgeting, matching production capacity to anticipated demand and ensuring the timely execution of all sales orders.
• Ensure that adidas Social and Environmental Affairs standards, as well the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations – Industrial Establishments are complied with at all times, including all reporting of accidents, injuries, damages and potential threats to safety.
• Monitor inventory levels of both raw materials and blanks to ensure that they remain in line both with historical levels and with the current needs / forecasted sales of the business.
• Work with the Product Development department to make sure all patterns for new models and new fabrics are tested and approved in accordance with established procedures.
• Ensure supervisors, employees and agency staff are properly trained to perform their jobs safely and efficiently.
• Compile and analyse month-end KPI and costing/financial reporting as directed by both the Director of Operations and the finance department, ensuring the integrity of all data generated from the VISUAL ERP system and any reconciliation undertaken.
• Maintain current SOP’s and all required documentation in a well-organized, easily accessed manner.
• When warranted, initiate new methods of planning and production to improve efficiency, productivity and overall throughput.
• Ensure the company’s internal controls processes are followed, particularly in the areas of purchasing and inventory control.
• Document and report any equipment and facility issues requiring review / repair to the Facility Manager.
• Document and review with the Director of Operationsand the onsite HR Manager any employee performance problems for possible disciplinary action.
• Other duties as required and directed by the Director of Operations.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing operations and an understanding of the product development and costing process.
• Procedural awareness and the ability to coordinate the efforts of multiple work streams into a single output.
• The ability to communicate effectively, both on an individual level with team members and across departments within an organization.
• An aptitude for leadership and the willingness to develop this skill through mentoring and coaching.
• Excel, Outlook, Word and a working knowledge of ERP principles.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Strong work ethic and self-motivational ability.
• Excellent command of the English language, both verbally and written.
Qualifications:
• This position requires a leader experienced in manufacturing operations.
• Previous leadership level experience of 5 or more years directly related to manufacturing, or a comparable environment.
• University or college degree, or the ability to demonstrate equivalent skills developed through work experience.
