This Network Team Lead role requires strong collaboration with team members as well as other IT Teams, Business Partners, and key stakeholders to design and build robust, scalable, operational solutions to meet business needs. This person will be responsible for running the day-to-day activities of the Network Engineering Team and helping to set the technical direction/drive technical decisions. The Network Lead position demands a well-organized, action oriented team player with exceptional time management skills to drive multiple initiatives simultaneously and in a very fast paced environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence cross functional teams, business partners and vendors are required.
Reports to: Director, Network Services
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Functions as a day-to-day leader of the Network Engineering Team
• Provides direction to team members as assigned by management
• Provides status updates and recommendations to management on behalf of the team
• Responsible for the quality of deliverables in terms of the technical design, implementation, testing and adherence to technical compliance standards
• Works on and/or leads large, complex projects within IT
• Provides hands on technical expertise, provides senior level technical guidance to staff, project leaders and other teams as necessary
• Partners with team members providing business acumen when preparing business cases
• Influences and is engaged in organizational direction of functional area
• Coach associates around personnel issues, with support of the manager when necessary
• Supports his/her manager with resource management responsibilities
• Provides feedback to manager regarding associates’ performance
• Can help support associates with Individual Development Plans and other development objectives
Required Skills and Competencies:
• Strong knowledge of Cisco, Palo Alto, F5, TCP/IP, LAN, WAN, Datacenter, VPN, and Wireless
• Strong network design and engineering skills
• Strong problem solving, analytical and diagnostic skills
• PCI and SOX requirements
• Good understanding of ITIL/Service Management processes.
Experience:
• 7-10 years of network administration and/or design experience
Preferred Qualifications:
• Proven hands on experience in network configuration and administration
• Knowledge and understanding of network performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and server technologies
• Experience with Cisco Prime, Palo Alto Panorama, and Firemon Security Manager products
• Proven hands-on experience in troubleshooting, managing, and maintaining IOS, NX-OS, IOS-XE, PAN-OS, and TMOS operating systems
• Broad knowledge of TCP/UDP/ICMP, IP, DNS, DHCP, ACLs, VLANs, VRFs, Security Zones, and DMZs
• Experience with iBGP, eBGP, OSPF, and EIGRP
• Strong team skills, communication, and drive to ensure constant improvement in service, capabilities and results
• Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE), and/or F5 Certified Technology Specialist – Local Traffic Manager (F5-CTS LTM)
Education:
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred
